As far as I can tell, putting two Slann in the same TG is no longer verboten. Just because we CAN do that doesn't mean we SHOULD. As I move to playing more grand army games, I think I'd rather have two TG unit but a crazy part of me wants to try a double Slann bunker. Any thoughts on how to use a double Slann bunker apart from a really large Death Star?
I have to say I wouldn't, You're basically putting a sign over the unit saying "there's about 1000 points here in this one unit," and it's not amazing in combat, Even if you're playing a 4k game that's a lot of eggs. If the amount of magic die varied in bigger smaller game I might be tempted to take two slan, but with only 2 d6 power dice I wouldn't take 2 primary casters.
I agree with most of what you said but I disagree with the last clause. Telepathic Confabulation is too tempting to not try it. The next time I go grand I plan to try a Life/Death pair (though in retrospect two Slann in one unit is probably bonkers). Death Slann will have Harmonic Convergence + the Channeling Staff. Life Slann will take the Forbidden Rod (can heal back the wounds easily). I'd give both the Reservoir of Eldritch Energy if I had points to spare. Add the Death lore attribute and that's a lot of tricks for more dice. I figure Life Slann can give Death Slann Throne of Vines. This will let the Death Slann throw off Purple Sun or the upper level sniping spells with minimum fear of miscasting. As an added bonus if Throne of Vines is still remaining in play next turn, Death Slann can toss back Throne of Vines and BOTH Slann can then have Throne of Vines up. Just the thought of Soulblight and Dwellers makes me giddy. Life and Death seem to be an obvious pairing but I think lots of pairings could work. I just don't think WD Slann or High Slann would play well with others. Two BRB Slann is eight spells which is a reasonable amount to work with. 11-15 spells is probably a bit too much to work with.
I'd be willing to try it, but I'd take a lot of Temple Guard and go with a Life Slann and Kroak. If you're lucky you can get Throne of Vines and have two toads with built in miscast protection. Could be fun. Plus you can hopefully regrow some casualties. And now you're Unbreakable! Hmm, that's a lot of if's in that thought. Too bad we can't have Loremaster of Life anymore. Though if you were patient you could take a High Slann and keep swapping his spells out for Life until you had them all or at least the ones you want. That's my take on it though. Soulblight + Dweller's sounds pretty mean. Just the potential of having it makes it worth trying. Now I just need someone to play a grand army with me...
