So a quick question for the forum.

In a 2150 kill all tournament. Which style of armies does better? The all mystical and powerful Slann list, or the in your face neel or die, Oldblood style list? I usually do not play with a Slann due to the expense of him. I usually bring a fast hitting 2-3 blocks of Warriors with an Oldblood and a Scar-Vet in with them. Maybe I haven't seen the light yet in usuing the Slann.

If you can show me the errors that I might be making in not using the Slann please tell me.

In low points, usually a list without a Slann is the way to go. Unless you are REALLY good at rolling dice, choosing spells, and have really good strategy, a kill em all is hard to do with a bunch of priests.

I'd use my points to get a LOT of skinks, Salamanders, and a buttload of Kroxigors. That's my 2 cents.

A Slann is wise to take, especially in these types of fights, because the Slann is more flexible then any other unit in the game in my opinion. You can quickly adjust your spells over lores to try and prepare for you enemies, there's a thread around here somewhere in which I give a detailed list of what spells to take against what armies, so you might look into that. A Slann has a much better potential to crush your enemy, and plus an Oldblood you may find unable to handle a SAD army or a heavy-magic list. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck.

Even for a kill-all game? I'd prefer to use more guys than have the one big slann. Unless you make him indestructible. Which is possible. I dunno, I haven't been to many tournaments, but just by playing games I see that it's easier to kill stuff with clobbering than it is with magic. That's just me though. I'm being a little hypocritical because me 2250 army list contains a slann and two priests, lol... but I don't play kill-all games.

Just be aware many armies are MORE then capable of killing a Oldblood especially if he's on a Carnosaur. Slann are better in kill all then you may think. If you want full power in magic, take a 4th Generation and 3 Priests, which will also open up another rare choice for you. Trust me, those 4 wizards can nuke any army to pieces, especially if you arm the Priests with some nasty items instead of making simple scroll caddies. But that all depends upon your opponent's army.

If you need proof, out of the many years I've played Lizards in tourny's, an Oldblood can, and will, loose if slightly outdone not to mention now that all of these 7th edition lists have been unleashed it'll be even harder. A Slann, however, can protect you from all of your enemies, if not obliterate them. With the exception of certain armies, a Slann will be very useful with a Destructive lore like Death or Fire.

Hmmmm.... You know, I'm going to give this a try and see what damage I can do.

Also, I usually pick Metal Lore.

So what do you mean by arming the priests with some nasty armies? Hey Dalkarius if any way possible could you put up a 2000- 2150 pt army showing us how you build your army around these priests? I am very curiuos to see your take on the list.

Pardon my idiocy, but when I wrote the post sometimes I type another word when thinking about multiple things at once then originally intended. I meant to say items, not armies. I could give you some less then 2,000 point lists with all Priests that are rather nasty, but that was an error on my part.

If, however, you still like to see my list, please let me know and I'll give you my take on it.
