Certainly looks like a good amount of lizards to be working on a whilst we wait for 9th to come around.

I just have to say - that Cthuhlu model though. I want!

    A bit of unpacking later...

Ignore KalaNethyrThulu there in the background... ...he is just inspecting the new arrivals like I am.

That model is a conversion. The only known examples (and no two are exactly alike) were created in a hands-on Eldritch Conversions Class taught at an event held last October at the Reaper Minis factory/HQ. Here is a painted example of one of the others (not mine):

Whoever did this one added the cultist, hero or priest (whatever that guy is) in the lower right. That figure is not stock for the base.

All the pieces are Reaper's new Bones plastic material. To create one just like this one would have to order:

Cthulu (for the head and body)
    Nethermaul (for the wings)
and Kaladrax. (solely for the base)

...plus the figure on the base & he might be a metal mini.

The auctions included a big bag of bit parts. I have been going through it. Can someone tell me what these guys are?

    IMG_1266 (2).JPG

Obviously, 5th edition cold ones with add-on bits. But what are they called with these add-ons? Anyone know?

It is 6th edition cold ones, 5th edition had the ones walking on two feet with skin riders (still waiting for a new edition when I can pull these back out from the boxes!)

Looking at the bits that are on them, and since they are mostly spikes, I think the idea was to use them as proxy for Razordon's.

@The Red Devil :: Were the 5th edition ones metal? Do you have or know where to find a pic?

Back in the day of the bitz store, you could purchase Horned One heads from the Inxi-Huinzi model separately. I've slowly been building my Horned One unit ever since ;)

Also to the original post, I think those bitz one the Cold Ones are from Tyranid kits.

    An update

I snagged something else from eBay:

Those are metal Temple Guards. This: was the listing on eBay. They arrived today (two days early). That second guy in the front rank there does indeed have a busted base but it looks like the seller tossed in an extra, unbroken base to replace it.

Given all the uncertainty I may have thrown money away, but :cyclops: it was 20 metal minis for about $32 (shipping included).

The metal ones were really nice. I still use mine! Not much in terms of customization however.

    Did they come with shields?

Sadly no. I guess I need to shop for some good buttons.

Not really... there is always 8th edition if 9th stinks.

    There is that. Or Lizardhammer.

I like the halbards they have. And I think I only had six or so, maybe just four.

Yeah, I kinda wish the halberds of our current models looked more like halberds. I think @Pinktaco knows something cool about getting second hand shields.

Off topic, I honestly think halberds and spears should have specific bonuses against cavalry too. Halberds have that hook on the back to dismount a rider plus halberds & spears are not super fun to charge horse into.

I mostly scoured the interwebz in order to find spartan shields. Scibor miniatures do, however, have some halbards, although I'm not sure they're preferable to what we have:

All that happens under current rules is add to ST or add # of ranks involved, yes?

Those look like berdiche or bardiche which are distinct from halbards. And, to me, they look more appropriate to Beastmen or Chaos Marauders.
