    Hello everyone,

My question today is about how you determine the way you build untis, and how many of those units you will build? Hope that makes some sort of sense.

To give you an example, I have 60 Saurus Warriors with HW/S. Now I have a few bodies left over to make a Spear unit. Should I make this unit 20 or 30 or 40 etc.

I've built my HW/S unit to be broken into either 1x 60, 3 x 20 untis or 2 x 30 units or even 2 x 24 units. I find that anything smaller than 20 is pretty much a waste... but thats just me.

As for building a Spear Unit, what do you guys find works well?

I'm also curious about how you build your Skink and Skrox units. I've set up my army like dis:

18 Chameleons (more than enough I think) 20 skinks with Blowpipes and 32 Skinks with Spear and shield (which will run wth Krox one day)

Lastly, how many Salamanders, Razordons and Terradons do you normally run in a 2000-2500 pt game.

Sorry for so many questions, but I'm looking to see what I need to take my army to the next level.

    Thanks

I find units of 24 is good for a small unit of Saurus Spearmen.
    (Six wide by four deep)

runing them just one wider gives you four more attacks, and a spear
unit wins by killing, as oposed to the hand weapon unit that wins by surviving..
I rank them four deep so I have a reserve rank for casualites,
with only 3 ranks you will be loosing attacks with every casuality,
with 4 you will have 6 casualites before is looses efectiveness.

Usualy I either take something like 5x5 all the way to 5x2 for regular saurus units.

For Salamander alll unit sizes are good, but the larger units are better if
they get into close combat. For Razordons I recomend units of 3 with some extra handlers.

Terradons somewhere betwem 3-5 seems good, also adding a terradon chief is sometimes a good plan.

For all skinks and chamelions I usualy just take the minimun size of 10.

Units of Srox work well in any size but thieir role can change depending of the number of Kroxigor,
    (usualy 1-3 Kroxigor)

You can also run kroxigor by them selves, usualy i would go with units of 3 or 6,
the unit of six would be in two ranks.

It doesn't make a huge difference really, but I am definitely finding HW and shield are the better option for saurus this edition. Though if you already have 60 saurus then that is probably enough for them anyway. :)

Spear units should be fairly big to make use of their extra rank of attacks. I'd probably make them 30 minimum, but 24 would work against a lot of things.

Salamanders are great, I take 2 in 2500 points. More would be more effective, but they are quite a powerful model anyway. 2-4 is a good number for an army that size.

Skink skirmishers, agree with n810 go minimum size. Skrox, I like 22 skinks and 2 krox, 6x5.

Terradons may or may not be needed depnding on how many warmachines you usually face. Their old ability to marchblock is now pretty much worthless, and charmeleons probably do the hunting job a little bit better.
