Got an upcoming friendly against DE tonight, and hints or tips you guys have. I think he maywell be fielding a hydra! And a supreme sorceress!! Any tip greatly appriciated
points level? what models do you have to choose from? scenario or pitched battle more info can give you a little more targeted advice.
If you are expecting a strong possibility of a hydra, take a a Banner of Eternal Flame on some Cold One Cavalry or Temple Guard. At ten points it makes your elite Sauri (whichever type you choose) a good counter against the Hydra and if he doesn't bring a Hydra, you are only out ten points. If you are REALLY worried about the Hydra give a Scar Veteran the Burning Blade of Chotec or take a magic lore with flaming attacks. The Dark Elf list is too varied to make a lot of generalizations. Take the following with a grain of salt. -They don't have high powered war machines so taking big dinos is relatively low risk compared to other armies. -Their lack of war machines and their overall maneuverability means you probably don't want to overload your army with a large number of skink skirmishers (or Terradons and Chamo Skinks though they aren't useless because the Dark Elves have lots of elite units with low armor saves. -While not as mighty as Slann, the Dark Elves can wield a magic phase that's especially potent, so know you are taking a risk if you go Slann-less. I'd recomend Light, Life or if you are feeling unorthodox: Heavens or Fire. I'm normallyl a big fan of Death and Shadow, but their high intiative and low toughness make Shadow a little weaker than normal and their high Iniative and high speed make Death a little weaker than normal.
He had a dread lord on a dragon and I managed to kill it just by charging my stegadon at it with the war spear( first time it's done anything good) his hydra was useless charged 20 Saurus at it he killed about 4! Game was only short but won as killed high point drAgon! Am I right that the charge of stegadon is 2d6+1 strength 7 hits cuz that's pretty awesome
Nope its Strength 5 or 6 depending on which stegadon you used. the lance bonus doesnt affect the strength of the impact hits.
With dark elves I would watch out for black guards and corsairs with the okhams mindrazor combo. You get a massive amount of incoming attacks, that re rolls to hit at like s6! Dispell mindrazor at all cost. But since you opponent probably is going to try to 'Irresistible force' it, make sure your slann has ruminition(?) that makes a wizard within 24 forfeit any sixes they get. Also a nasty combo to take out a sorceress is bane head + feedback scroll. Hit the hydra with something flaming and finish it off with massive skink fire. Elves biggest weakness is T3 and the dark ones are no different. Take lots of salamanders and stay out of combat and they wil crawl back to naggaroth soon enough
