My regular competitor plays an Orcs and Goblins list with two large units of night goblins(typically with 3 fanatics each), a unit of 40 goblins with spears and poisoned attacks, a squig heard, usually a reasonably small unit of orcs, a shaman, a black orc warboss on Wyvern, giant and mangler squig. I am taking a Slann with to disciplines, BSB, Full items allowance in a unit of 18 temple guard, two units of 20 saurus, a priest, a skink chief on stegadon with the stegadon war-spear and two units of three terradons. Im using the terradons to draw out and kill fanatics and the mangler squig pretty effectively. I am having trouble though with the unit of poisoned goblins tearing up my saurus. Also, several times now my slanns unit has ended up engaged in combat with a wyvern and a giant, in which the temple guard are slowly killed of. My magic phases have been relatively successful and have won a game but am struggling against the mix of large horde units and monsters. Any advice would be great! Also this is my first post and its extremely late sorry if its not up to standard.
One word solution to the goblins: Salamanders (the more the merrier). The flame template will do decent damage against them. If they happen to be out of the BOrks LD bubble, they will most likely panic as well. That alone could turn the tide for you by freeing up a Saurus block to help with the Wyvern or Giant.
Where are the skinks? No Giant should see combat against Lizardmen because blowpipes drop him super fast. I don't see size 20 Saurus a combat block, even against goblins. I'm guessing the poisoned shooting is hurting them badly? Again, skinks solve that problem by being skirmishers (-1 to hit) that block shooting at the Saurus (not technically blocked, but shooting at -2 means should remove the poison and that's enough). In combat, make sure to allocate all possible attacks on the defenseless goblin BSB who carries the poison banner. If you do a few wounds first, TG should be able to kill a wyrvern and a giant without getting obliterated. You on 3s and would on 4s, and they get little or no save. Remember that you don't need to attack the Orc Warboss - kill the bird.
