Poison is very good vs. war machines now, and magic is not. War Machines are much better now and will be very common. Therefore, every list should have chameleon skinks and/or some skirmish skinks. Do you agree?
Yeah, chameleon are a must have in every army and one unit of skirmishers is always good to have. I'm planning on running 2x5 chameleons so I can take care of 2 different targets at the same time.
Agreed. Without chameleons, you are going to have a hard time crossing the field. Chameleons are arguably the best scouts in the game now. I eventually want to get up to 2 units of 10.
Agree with the chameleon skinks... I have 3 units of 5 in my new list. They have been pumped up in this new edtiion, I think. Not to stray away too much from the subject at hand, but I have a questions about skirmishers in general... I haven't had much time to "study" the new rulebook and have just skimmed through here and there... Do skirmishers need to be ranked up now? Would it be a good idea to make a movement tray for them? I thought I read that they no longer have 360 degree arc of sight so that would mean that they now have flanks and rears. Somebody give me some insight please and sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere else on the site. Thanks. Iggy Koopa
Skirmishers rank up loosly, with about 1/2 inch between each model. They do have limited arc of sight and flanks now. I have seen some movement trays for sale (Gale Force 9 maybe?), and I've made trays for my skink skirmishers. The trays make movement easier, but they are inconvenient if you get charged since skirmishers "tighten ranks" in close combat.
This! As far as tightening them up when in CC, I usually just leave them in skirmishing formation. It's not like they will make it past more than 1 or 2 rounds of combat (You would almost need snake eyes to just stay after one round of combat).
@ MI_Tiger: Thanks for the response. I appreciate it. I have been debating on whether or not to make a movement tray for my skirmishers and I have decided that I will, however, I'll put spacers in between the models that are removable in order to accommodate them when they get into combat. It should be fairly easy to do (at least that's what I think in my head...). I'll post some pics when I get to it. Thanks again. Iggy Koopa
