For the majority of monsters, use mass skink shooting to bring them down with poison. Second option is buff/hex heavily in combat to try to beat them. Skink skirmishers and charmeleons are both great options though.

Also, the screaming bell isn't all that scary. You can target it out of the unit pushing it and drill it with skink shooting. Most Skaven players I know (and we are talking highly competitive players, like me) don't even field the thing until 2500 point games.

Rule of thumb, if it is huge and has a regen save, drill it with salamanders. If it is huge and just has an armor save, drill it with skinks. If it is huge and has a huge armor save, use a test or die spell or charge it with a stegadon.

    Re: Thanks guys

about the screaming bell: you have a perfect right to read the rules for your opponents units from his armybook. you never ever have to be surprised by a "secret" rule or anything like that. in a friendly gaming group it is probably easiest if you borrow each others armybooks from time to time to brush up on the rules. the three golden rules of strategy:

    know yourself
    know your enemy
    know the terrain

if you know all the above, you will have a great chance of winning. miss just one and you will have to trust the dice to be incredibly biased. miss two or three, and not even the dice can help you (assuming your opponent isnt as bad that is :p)

i think i drifted a bit, but still. make sure you get to check your opponents armybook ;)
