8th Ed. Ward saves?

Hey guys, this has come up a few times with me and my friends, and I couldn't find much about it in the rule book.

When exactly can you take a ward save? Or more specifically, when can you NOT take a ward save? Things seem to be pretty specific about wether or not you can take an armor save but ward saves are never mentioned. Is there some special interaction with ward saves and magic weapons? What about magic missiles and other magic attacks, like Skaven plague spell?

Unless it's written you can always use ward save.
It is often written "no save of any kind" in these condition.

as hebus said, you can always use ward saves unless it says you cant. however you can only use it against WOUNDS. some effects says you remove the model from play or something like that, and then you cant use wardsaves (or any other save). usually though, these effects are accompanied by a note that you cant take any saves.
