In 8th Ed I was a fan of Battlescribe. In any event I want people to post replies with links or other information on computer programs and/or possibly phone apps that make army building in this point-using age of Age of Sigmar easier. Then once the mods figure out which programs do not quietly violate GW intellectual property, we will sticky the legal tools at the top of the army list forum. This potentially more complex because of the potential to mix and match between faction or pick specific hosts.
http://www.scrollbuilder.com I think that's the best one, battlescribe still works, but I don't like it as much. Edit: I think the only one that doesn't violate GW is the AOS app, and buying the general's handbook on the app, but it is legitimately terrible as an army builder.
Scroll builder is easily the best points calculator ive tried, though I'm not too sure about its legality
I use Battlescribe, is not the best but is free and gets updated quite often. So the system per se is always improving.
I tried and liked that scrollbuilder, just followed the link above. I built this with it: 2700 Point Alliance of Order Army Leaders The Green Knight (200) - General Units Knights Errant x 16 (400) - Battleline Grail Knights x 10 (360) Knights Of The Realm x 8 (220) - Battleline Knights Errant x 8 (200) - Battleline Knights Of The Realm x 8 (220) - Battleline Gryph-Hound x 1 (40) Behemoths Bastiladon (300) War Machines Field Trebuchet (220) Organ Gun (120) Gyrobombers (80) Flame Cannon (200) Battalions Defenders of the Realm (40) Scenery Balewind Vortex (100) Total: 2700/2700 ______________ What is a Balewind Vortex? I didn't even know terrain could be part of a list. Not sure why gyro bomber is plural.
Balewind vortex is extremely useful for guys like lord Kroak. The full rules should be available for download or on the app.
Battlescribe is my preferred route, although it had trouble loading the AoS data files the last time i used it. As an alternative I used the Warscroll builder above: it does the job but I found it a little less flexible than Battlescribe.
oooh, I have to check that out. I am actually pretty happy with Warscroll builder, so I am curious what Battlescribe does even better.
Ok, here's my review after 5 minutes of using Battlescribe: - much too complex for me, ok, that might be because I am not used to it. After a few minutes more it will probably be easy. - doesn't know what a Skink Chief is. Dammit. - Commercials are not too annoyingly placed and the premium version is quite cheap Not too shabby, but still a bit incomplete.
I haven't used Battlescribe for Age of Sigmar yet, but I found a bunch of minor things bugged me in 8th edition. I ended up making minor edits to the Lizardmen roster myself.
I'm the one that updated the files over a few days last week. If you see anything wrong let me know and I can fix it up. The Skink Chief was not in the Seraphon book, maybe its part of the Lizardmen list but that is its own thing.
I just reported it on GitHub. The point is: A GW-made Skink Chief Warscroll for AoS is publicly available in this document: https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/AoS_Compendiums/warhammer-aos-lizardmen-en.pdf Same for Jungle Swarms and a few others btw. I see no reason to not include it. Lizardmen are no more, all of those units have the Seraphon keyword. EDIT: Oh, and of course @Mark Sinosich I have to say THANK YOU!
Ahh Yes it's there but not in the Seraphon Book. Yeah I'll look to add it soon, and the other missing characters.
We could argue about the Saurus Host and Skink Patrol bataillon Warscrolls though: - Skink Patrol is 140 points, which doesn't make sense from a gameplay point of view since it is identical to the 120-point Shadowstrike Starhost, except the latter allows using a Starpriest. I could live without it. - Saurus Host says it needs "Temple Guards" (which are replaced by "Saurus Guard") or "Saurus Cavalry" (replaced by Saurus Knights). Otherwise it looks fine to me although I wonder if I'd ever play it.
Skink patrol is slightly different. It is based on keywords, so an engine of the gods, Tehenhauin, priest or starpriest as the skink priest unit. Still probably not worth the extra 20 points, but there is a difference.
If I choose Gunline Arsenal as my Army faction, how do I give it the required battleline choices? (***And there are more "factions" that have no battleline choices. I don't get it.)
I've looked on the Warscroll builder and your right you can't add battleline too quite a few of the factions.
