8th Ed. Well, kind of a 'cheesy' question but I was wondering...

Now, if you take two hand weapons (FE Fencer's Blades or Extra Hand Weapon) or even a two handed weapon (Greatsword/Halberd) and you throw in the Maiming Shield: You still get the extra attack even though you don't get the shield in H2H combat?

I couldn't find it anywhere in the BRB that says you have to use the shield in hth in order to get it's magical bonus...I suppose you could do it...though it seems a little unsportsmanlike.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.. I wouldn't do it (I like fair game) but I saw the rule and it made me wonder..

I don't think so. Surely you actually need to be using the shield to get the bonus. It says 'The shield confers +1 attack' and if you aren't using the shield how could you get the bonus? You would have a hard time finding an opponent who would agree, I believe.

well the big problem is that most of the items that grant +1 attack have been reworded to grant the "Extra Attack Special Rule", not the case of the shield. the problem is that the shiled grants the attack at base S so its a bit diffrent than the extra attack rule. you could probably use that combo according to RAW, but RAI is quite obvious that you swing with the shield
