http://www.antimatter-games.com/shadowsea/store/shop_draconids.htm I sometimes wonder that should I buy those saurus cause they are in so stiff positions, and pretty boring models after all. Then I found these. Looks more lizard and lifelike. Also more brutal not so organized and stuff. Well they are more expensive, and for getting variation in position they need some converting, but still they are so awesome. Those Dragonid Heavy warriors could be Temple Guard. Lizardman lord is best version of Oldblood/Scarvet I have ever faced. They are not even that expensive compared to their quality. Even tough GW skinks are just fine, could wonder wether we should try to replace them with Troglodytes http://www.antimatter-games.com/shadowsea/store/shop_draconids.htm , and maybe sallies with lava lizard, even tough I think those lava lizards are not that great. What do you think of this and these models? Also does anyone have any experience about these miniatures? I mean are they nearly right size? I mean they are quite same size, but can I fit them to 25mm square bases(Troglytes to 20mm bases), and put them to regiments? Is price too high or is it just fine? I think I is okey to try something new if it fits and don't have to stuck with GW:s models if they don't please enough. Please share your thoughts.
That website is all kinds of broken on my chrome. The miniatures look too big as well. I think that lord is as big as a new kroxigor.
They are very cool, but you better have a big bank account to pay for them. Skinks work out to about $1.75/ model Saurus work out to about $2.60/ model The ones you are looking at work out to $5.60/model for lizarmen So its up to you really.
As someone else said they are too big. They are 45mm and 33mm scale. GW models are 25mm scale. As someone said the lord would make a pretty cool kroxigor champ though.
Hmm... So they are too big after all... Well it is shame, since those were really great models. Much beyond GW:s quality. For Kroxigor champ that is too agile. Well maybe they look so great because they are so big. I mean surely they are much easier to make finely detailed. Hope Forgeworld does something for lizzies since GW:s models are quite outlived, and they really made no advancement in new plastic Oldblood. It is just a another Temple guard with just more junk on it. Maybe not even as finely detailed as new Temple Guard. GW has released huge amount of new models lately, which is great, but I think GW should not forget the quality. I feel like they are just trying to make more and more junk to sell and trying to sell armies with new figurehead giant monsters they are adding to every army. I m worried what they are going to do to Bretonnia. I hope GW keeps some not so commercial in FB. I mean like in 40k it is ridiculous that every other book is Space Marine book... Also game balance is not so good etc. Chaos Dwarfs got really nice FW models(expensive tough), so I sometimes wonder wether I should collect them. Well time shows.
I think these Shadowsea Dragonblood models are absolutely beautiful (not to mention exceptionally well painted). My second reaction was also that they may be too big (and too expensive) for rank and file, although I am not going to state this as a fact until I see them compared side by side. GW models are NOT 25mm scale - not even close - not since 3rd edition. These has been a continuous scale creep going on over the years (although the scale started creeping back in the other direction after 6th edition, we are still well over 25mm). Also worth noting that as Saurus go on 25mm bases and not 20mm bases, we can probably get away with using these, at least for our characters. P.S., Agreed, the new Oldblood finecast mini is crap.
If they are not too big I totally would be ready to pay little extra to get much more awesome models. I mean I really don't want to support commercial path GW is taking. I also think that GW is not giving enough attention to Lizzies. For example in Storm of Magic we were left almost fully without new models, and Slann did not have almost role at all, even tough they are like the very magic incarnate. In finecast we got like three models, and Slann is not even among them. Other models that we totally need new ones are Cold One riders. They are really stiff and old looking. Especially Cold Ones. Saurus are also not so great, and as we saw in Oldblood, they are not even trying to make improvement. It is ridiculous as some habitant sculpters and smaller companies make better model than GW with all money and workers they got. How is it possiple that GW is like lighyears behind of its own daughter corporation Forge World. Please GW. Get grip of yourself, take artistic view not so fucking commercial, and try to create something new and inspiring. I know most of people buying GW producs could be ten year old kids, who don't demand much since they are ones that don't have army already, but please think of your faithful good old neckbeards!
But back in to business. Please of someone have any pictures to confirm size of these miniatures please share them with us.
i like the look of the lava lizard, a bit like a fat laid back salamander! ps. i like the new oldblood mini
Hmm. Their bases are 30 mm round bases, and saurus has 25 mm square. So diagonal of saurus bases is little bit more than 35 mm. So I get an impression that they should b e around same size. Alright I admit that those Ridgeback Lirzardmen are quite large for their own bases, but still their diameter is 5 mm shorter than GW saurus. I Troglolyte warriors seem to have 25 mm square base so I m not sure wether they work as skinks, but don't you think those dragonids would do fine? New Oldblood mini is fine, but I m disappointed that there has not been any advancement when we compare it to old minis. I think GW should aim higher with their minis.
> http://www.achesoncreations.com/ind...mart&page=shop.browse&category_id=74&Itemid=1 < You might want to check out these 28mm dinosaurs. that new one looks like a reasonable Salamander substitute. Also they sell some nice aztec/mayan type of terrain. http://www.achesoncreations.com/ind...mart&page=shop.browse&category_id=17&Itemid=1 and http://www.achesoncreations.com/ind...mart&page=shop.browse&category_id=18&Itemid=1
The one you'd want is the Dimetrodon, but unfortunately there is no picture. You can see more of their stuff on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Primaeval-Designs/133058920060231?sk=wall
Well purpose of this topic was that if someone has some pics of those minis already I don't have to buy them my self in case that they are not correct size. posting costs anyway. Well I still have to thin of this, since I don't want to mix two completely different saurus together, since it just looks silly. What I also have to think is that wether they fit together or are sculpting styles so different that mixim them wont form whole. Lets see. Well if I order those Ill try to remember to post some pics here.
Shoot them an email, if it means a sale and potential customer increase, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to show you how they stack up to GW models.
Thanks for hint about that Salamander candidate. http://www.coolminiornot.com/224193?browseid=667635 http://theminiaturespage.com/news/pics/2007/nov/998129b.jpg Here are two links which I received from other site. I mean if you want some comparison. Hmm. That sounds great idea. Ill see what I do. Thanks for hint.
Models look great! However, says they are 33mm which would be a bit large for standard units. Perhaps using them as hero/lords?? The Lizardmen lord was 45mm Personally, I think ANY moldel other then GW are the right choice. GW is so over priced it is asinine! These models are peweter not plastic or the resin crap GW is passing off as quality....and cheaper then GW. Have you seen the price of the new resin Ogres? 1 hero was $43.00 (blister pack) anyone who purchases that should be kicked in the head. the model has flaws, bubbles and brittle. Hopefully MANTIC will produce LM soon.
http://www.otherworld.me.uk/ Also has nice Lizzies, and other really great models. Quality is great, for example, http://www.otherworld.me.uk/we2series.html really nice snakes and frogs for being Jungle Swarms.
