Well, for some time now, I have been debating on a second army (between lizardmen, dark elves, ogre kingdoms, high elves) and I finally decided on Lizardmen...for two reasons.

First: I proxied a couple games with them the last couple days and really like how they play, still really bad with strategy and what not, but like the army...also I think the fluff behind them is awesome.

Second: I was able to get a starting force on the cheap! :)

    What I have right now:

    24 skinks
    24 saurus
    8 saurus cavalry
    2 stegadons

My question to you fine scar veterans and old bloods is, where do I go next? What units should I look to get? I only plan on capping this army at or around 2500, if that.

    Thanks for your time.

Naturally, it all depends on your army list and how much you're willing to spend, but now that you have a good core and some Special/Rare (depending on how you assembled your steggies), you can focus on some of the more fancy models. Pick up a Slaan or the Kroq-Gar model, or both if you can afford it. Maybe some individual Saurus or Skink models as well. There's also Kroxigor, Terradons, Razordons, and Salamanders, of course.

Terradons is a must in all most any army.. get ~4 of them.

Salamander or Razordons.. It's all about which you prefer most.. But it's worth it to get at least some of those.

Kroxigors.. who doesn't want them.. They are still the cool looking boys from the team. If you want a mixed unit with skinks get them.. want something else than Cold ones but do the same job? Get Kroxigors.

Slann or Old Blood on Carnosaur.. Magic boost or Combat boost.. It depends on how you want your army to look like.

If you pick Slann.. it would be wise to get ~16 Temple Guards as well. If you want 2 blocks of Saurus Warriors you might be better off buying 6 more.. 15 is a solid number for one block.

If you think 2 unit skinks ain't enough .. get another unit.

    thanks for the advice! :)

I'll look in to getting some terradons

The stegs are both last edition models (with the longer horns)
I'm also in the middle of getting 20 more saurus, 12 more skinks and 10 templte guard.

I have proxied with the razordons a lot, but still aren't sure on which to go with, guys I'll have to try out the salamanders. :)

    Thanks again.

I think you need a character... :smug:

But really depending on the style yuo want to play it varies.

Magic? Then yuo can choose between a lot of skinks or the ore resilient saurus, dpending on preference.

Close range combat? Either a swift swarm of small skinks/jungle swarms and terradons and such or a lot of saurus.

Magical Close range? Skinks, more skinks and even more skinks, no slann... And Stegadons!

Close combat? Saurus, some more saurus, some cold ones, some stegadons, a salamander or 2...

I don't have to much knowledge of most of these(I prefer beating people's heads with a stick :D )

    Cheers!

oop, should have mentioned, next time I head down to the weekly warhammer league I was planning on buying a couple skink priests and maybe a scar vet (if they have one)

If you get a scar vet you should probably get him on a cold one. I'm about to buy one on foot but 9/10 you'll want him on a cold one. Also, never ever ever ever buy jungle swarms, they are the one and only thing I would never consider in the LM army (except maybe a skink chief on foot, though with cloak of feathers he can have some use)

Why a Scar Vet on a Cold One? ~6 Cold One riders are fine on their own.. no need to push something that is good already and let some unit be 'weaker' instead. But I guess that is a matter of preference..

I love both Skink chief with Cloak and Scar Vet 28"+ tbh.. Being a threat for few points is quiet nice. And i play a lot versus dwarfs.

I wonder how bad Jungle Swarms are at the moment.. When that awefull rule showed up it made them pretty sad. I still think about taking ~4 to battle sometime.. (No need to buy.. some extra's from the Cold One set can fix you some nice Jungle Swarms if you buy some bases. I warn you.. it will look silly). It is worth trying I think... Since I think SkinKrox units are not the most use-able units in the army... Swarms shouldn't be that much worse.. they walk along fine with skinks.

The sad (or nice) thing about Warhammer is that you want most things.. even if it is just to try it out or just because you want the whole army complete.

I have no intent on putting my cold one saurus vet in my cav unit anytime soon, though i will try it later. The movespeed enabling a fast jump out of a unit, extra s4 attack, 2 armour and cool lookingness are all worthwhile for 20pts and (~90% pass rate with 3D6) stupidity. To me it's a matter of flexibility and efficiency, which of course is the basis for my preference ;)
Although I absolutely agree that a jag charm foot veteran is very much worthwhile, indeed the chakax model will be my next purchase for this purpose, I would still pick a cold one scar vet first 90% of the time, even if i wanted to stick him in an infantry block.

add immunity to fear and terror effects for the unit whic he is within... but stupidy is a real headache... if you fail a Ld test in a critic round you can loss the battle... ;)

My other army I play is Orcs and Goblins, so I'll gladly trade all those animosity tests for one stupidity test :)

The O&G Test is fun :D Seeing 20 Night Goblins run into some big unit Dwarf Warriors is just priceless.
IMHO Stupidity is kinda hard to fail.. If you manage to screw up a Stupidity test with 3D6 then you got some serious dice roll issue's ^^

But Dumble.. true about the 'flexible, jump out of unit' part.. i always forget you can run out of a unit so i don't use it that much.. Sadly your not right about the model.. I wanted to try a COVet out once.. and i saw the model and i rather took my Orc Warboss with Bonnie the boar with me as Scar Vet..(I took a Skink Chief in the end)
