I want a new Age of Sigmar army, and I've got two armies in mind. First is a Troll army led by Throgg based on the army he has in the Kinslayer novel. So a mixture of Stone and River trolls, Throgg, a Dragon Ogre Shaggoth, a Chimera, and a Beastman Shaman. I might also add in a Cygor as, even though it wasn't in the novel, Shamans can control monsters like that so it would make sense to include a Beastman monster. Probably total to about 30 or so models, but it'll be entirely monsters and monsterous units influenced by one of the better Warhammer novels. The other is a total Clan Eshin army. 90 Night Runners, Snikch, an Assassin, maybe a Verminlord Deciever to act as the general, and then the rest of the wounds will be Gutter Runners. This will easily be over 100 ninja-assassin rats. Which do you think I should do?
Trolls, because Throgg is one of the best models GW has ever put out, also his story is amazing and you can work across faction boundaries with him easily. For example you want to include some of the amazing woogy models, well Throgg raided into lustria and took feral kroxigors into his army, same with minotaurs etc.
I'd say troll as well for a number of reasons, They look great, loads of people have Skaven armies but I bet you don't see many trolls, although Skaven are nice models. Fewer models so faster to paint
I would still go troll, were looking at getting some river trolls and Archie loves the hag from forgeworld
I rather want to get something from Forge World for this army, but I don't know if it'll fit in my theme. I was looking at the Gigantic Chaos Spawn simply because I like its randomised Plaything rule, which I could use for my Shaman's pet monster. My first choice would have been Sayl the Faithless because I love his model and rules, but he doesn't fit my theme sadly.
Yeah he is nice, do you not have a chaos army? I can see my Khorne themed chaos band developing into a khorne/nurgle band just so I can paint some of those models. I really want to build a Goblin army (already started) and I have spotted a cool idea on ebay for painting them.
For Chaos I only have the Blodbound units from the AoS starter set, though I do plan to make a Cult of Valkia army eventually (probably after my Troll/Eshin one) that'll be a bunch of Bloodbound led by Valkia because while I dislike Khorne, I love Valkia. I used to have a full Chaos army, but I gave most of it to this kid who wanted to start a big Chaos army but couldn't afford it. I also have an old Archaon model, but I'll be selling that very soon to a friend to help fund this next army.
Well said, it seems we have a winner then. Unless Eshin can rack up some votes pretty soon, looks like I'll be fielding trolls.
I also vote Trolls - it's something I was toying with a while back when I downsized my home (and lost all of my hobby space) and I'd like to see someone actually do it!
Alright so Trolls clearly won... but I won a massive pile of Skaven models at a store event recently which provides me with all the Eshin I need for free (plus a cool Games Day Warlord which I plan to implement) so I'll bash them together and then start on my Trolls, netting me both. Everyone wins in the end! Now for my next army after that, perhaps a Ghoul army ...
I'm excited for my Ghoul army. It's going to be a horde of naked emaciated cannibals sprinting on all fours at their prey... to the music of Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf. The Ghoul King shall be called Shia, and the army will be listed as the Shia LaSquad.
