Ok, so I've got an old style carnosaur - the finecast one. Not painted it, but its together...

What do I do with it? If I'm going to use a Carnosaur, since I haven't painted this one, I might as well get one of the new ones. But in that case, What can I do with the old model?

Should I leave it as a Carnosaur with no rider, and use it when I play Storm of Magic, and have a single Carnosaur monster?

Do I try and make it into a unit filler for an epic huge unit of Saurus?

Suggestions and/or what you've done with it if you've done this? or have you just kept it as a Carnosaur, and not bought the new one?

(I've bought one box, and made a Troglodon with it. I figure I'll use it more often than a Carnosaur, since my Lords points go into Slaan.)

Mind you, I can't have a Steg with a skink chief and a War Spear any more, so no SuperSteg... that opens up Heroes points for a Carnosaur with Scar Vet...

    Help?!?

Buy the base that matches the new one (chariot base?) and glue the old carno on it. It's still an awesome model.

yep. glue it to a chariot size base (about 2"x4").
and model him as the scarvet on a Carnasaur, (using some of your new bits)
saving the new one as one of the other versions.

If you are running two Carnosaur army, it'd be better if the Carnies had different poses.

I've got an old metal one I have never put together. Been considering using the Kroq Gar for a cowboy conversion.

IMO the current carnosaurs head is too small, so I prefer the old one......

I am quite taken with the idea of using as a scar vets, as it will be younger.

I have the old metal Carnosaur model, and I love it.

    1) Perfect for a Scar-vet riding a carnosaur.
    2) Perfect use as a filler for a large Saurus unit.
    3) No need to re-base it, GW long ago stated that models should be placed on the base size they are packaged with. 50x50 base works just fine (the new one is a 50x100 base)

I love the idea of using it for a scarvet. Leaves it open that I could get a new style Carney for an oldblood or kroq, and use the old style Carney for a scarvet in the same army :D love it...

I agree though, the head on the new one doesn't seem to scale with the rest of the model.... That's why I made the troglodon first.

Actually there's absolutely no need to re-base it. My finecast Carnosaur came with a 50x100 base, and i'm assuming it changed when they went to finecast from metal?

Never considered using it as unit filler, great idea! If I can ever bring myself to run a carno I'll def be using mine, there is jjust a feel to metal that finecast/ plastics don't have. If I can ever muster enough courage to run double carno like ZaGreekie, I'll def be using it as the scar-vets ride!

Actually, I think the model is exactly the same as it was from metal to forecast, just different material. It really wouldn't work as a monstrous infantry base. Chariot all the way.

Actually i've seen the metal ones come with a 50x50 base.

So somewhere along they changed their minds o_O

I have a metal one coming in the mail from a trade. I like the idea of doing a Scar-Vet with him. I will just need a 50x100 base to put him on. This is also an opportunity to bulk it up a little using some terrain and scenic basing when I buy my Hirst Molds.

I have two metal Carnosaurs and they both have 50x50 mm bases. At some point GW changed them to chariot bases (50x100 mm). I fully intend to use them as is though. The model it too awesome looking to not use.

Just use him as a Carno, It´s imo better than the old one. I would put In a chariots base.
