Hi everyone I'm looking to get into AoS with Seraphon. I know that I'd already like to get 2 start collecting boxes as that seems to be the most recommended (and cost effective way to start). To maximize the boxes I'd make the following (and by all means correct me, I appreciate all advice):

    Troglodon
    Old Blood on a Carno
Scar Vet on a Cold One
3 5 model units of knights (for firelance starhost)
2 10 model units of saurus warriors
Possible another old blood and a skink priest (not sure if there's enough to convert those)

Beyond that though I'd like to acquire most of the range of Seraphon, just so I can tinker and mix things up. My questions are what should I get next given the list above (mass saurus? skinks? monsters? mages?), and to fulfil a complete seraphon collection what would I need to get (units and number of models in those units.)

I hear the big combo boxes are a pretty good deal.
A balanced approach is generally best.

Great start, from 2 SC boxes you can make this,

    Troglodon with skink oracle
    Old blood/ scarvet on Carno
    Scar Vet on cold one
    15 Knights
    20 Warriors (4 left over)
    Oldblood on foot

    Now extra you can make

Astroloth bearer using a warrior and spares from the knight set
Skink priest with spares from the carny set
Sunblood/Eternity warden with spares from warrior/knight/carny set

Adding to that you need to decide what you like, get what pleases you first, no wrong choice to be honest, just get what you like.

Thanks for the advice. For the other part of my question. What quantities should I eventually work towards? For instance how many saurus warriors, guards, skinks, etc. would I need to be able to tinker all I'd like? People say skinks are better en masse, but how many would you ever possibly need. My appologies if I phrased that part strangely.

It depends on what your doing really, 1000pt game, 1500 for example a pure Skink 500pt game can have 81 models

Skinks are good in 10 or 40 not 20,30
    Warriors are the same

Work towards there respective batallions, Warriors 40, Guards 15, skinks as many as you want

So really is up to you but if your going skinks you would want a decent amount, and boltspitter and shield

You can always pick a couple of boxes of skinks. They are 24/box, you'll have 48.
40 will be basic skinks for horde / groups of 10, 5 skinks can be converted into Chameleon, the last 3 ones can be used as Handlers if you can put your hand onto some sally.
