Hi guys, I'm new to the game and still learning the rules bit by bit. Been playing the LOTR Warhammer game for a while now and want to have a side-project to work on. I love making conversions on basically all characters I have so that they all look very unique. I recently purchased the Seraphon starting kit and had plans to do the following: - Swap the goofy cold ones with cool looking ones from gamezone miniatures. - Add green stuffed 'dino skull helmets' on the Saurus Warriors to make them look a bit like old-school Temple Guard like this. - Create a good looking Scar Vet (on Cold One) and Eternity Warden conversion. Now I just need some advice: 1) I'd love to add an old school Slann/Kroak conversion so that the palanquin doesn't float but gets carried by 4 Temple Guard. But to start working on this I'd first have to know wether I should buy myself a Slann or a Kroak. Which one would you suggest is the best for me to buy as a beginning player but enthousiastic hobbyist? 2) Secondly I'd need to make a choice on using the big creature from the starting box. Carnosaur or Troglodon? It might help to know that my future purchases will most likely be skinks (to convert to Chameleons and have common ones) and maybe a Stegadon. I'm not too keen on the Kroxigor's looks and not sure how I'll ever manage to convert them and make them look badass instead of clumpsy like the new Cold ones. So, any tactical purchase advice here? Slann or Kroak? Carnosaur or Troglodon?
Welcome! Just to make sure your question is in the right category: Is your question really about The 9th Age, or did you misplace it?
Oh! Possibly the wrong category. In all honesty I thought "The 9th Age" ment the latest 'rules book' - so basically the first Age of Sigmar ruleset. Am I wrong here?
Yes, "The 9th Age" is a ruleset developed by someone else, basically an unofficial continuation of the 8th edition Warhammer Fantasy Battles ruleset. Age of Sigmar is the official new (since 2015) ruleset of Warhammer by Games Workshop. But no problem, just leave the thread here. @Crowsfoot or another moderator can just move it.
Kroak is strong, but works in specific lists, that need to exploit things as the Balewind Vortex Slann will serve you better as General in a larger number of lists. As first dino, go 100% for the Carno.
Thanks! I'll go for the Carno for sure! And most likely a normal Slann while I'll try to sculpt a bone helmet that looks a bit like Kroak's mask for the Slann. I just really like Kroak's helmet.
You can always buy Kroak and just run him as a normal Slann if you like the model. 99.99999999999999 % of people do not care about proxies. As far as dinosaurs go, the Carno is better than the Trog simply because you can make battalions out of them. I would advise you to make him a Scar Veteran and not the Oldblood.
What are the odds on GW releasing a glorious new plastic slann multikit (assemblable as generic slann or Kroak)?
