if you were to play no limits at 2000 points, what list would you play? maybe a double carnosaur or a more magical list with slann and two god machines, or something in between?

Funny I was watching Dr Luke Blaxhill report from the tournament he came 2nd in and got chatting to him on YT about the Lizardmen list. It made me wonder what I would run, as the meta is very dragon and Bretonnian knights heavy. So above is it. Haven't put a lot of thought into it though.

This one is less reliable but I think would have a better chance of winning a massive tournament. It relies on getting luck - which you'll need to actually win. On average I suspect it would do worse than the first one

I believe he won and I agree with you that dragon blade is less reliable (against bretonnian knights for example will do nothing. If you want to play it you have to combine with another magical sword like biting sword. Interesting that he played no engine of gods.

I like too 12 skink units to have some more shooting and 1 more to kill against panic. Do you know in which rank did he played saurus? guess 6+6+6+4 as defensive or 8+8+6

About list to play it seems you have to play extreme to win, that means 3 carnosaur with 2 stegadons (or 2 carnosaurs and 3 stegadons). However it would be interesting to play even 4 bastiladons.

Not sure who "he" is that you're referring to?

If you mean Dr Luke Blaxhill he played Brettonians and got 2nd overall, it's on his latest YouTube video. He beat lizardmen in game 3 and I made some comments about his opponents list (which was not very competitive, e.g. a unit of temple guard, one carnosaur and one stegadon) and I responded in the comments, he responded back etc.

The lists you see are mine.

I don't find that 12 skinks gives much of an advantage because they aren't much of a shooting target anyway, plus you have to kill 3 and they are cold blooded (leadership 5 if not in range of general though eep) but interesting thought

In terms of the Bastiladon, I have only run them 4 times in 15 games. The issue they have is speed. In fact I'd say that's our biggest issue when it comes to dinosaurs. Only the carnosaur has swiftstride and none have flying. It's extremely important in the old world. Most of my opponents seem content to run everything up in a line and assume we'll all get into battle. When I do things like focus on one side and delay combat on the other it wins me games. But the point is that I just can't rate the bastiladon that highly because it's so slow, I know a lot on this board so.

I personally like Saurus ranked in 6's anything wider becomes too cumbersome for moving

I referred to the list with 3 carnosaur…
However for panic you need more than 25% of models and this is reason I often play 12 of them.

Figured with 3 carnos Dragon Slaying Sword was safe on one of them. Then use the points saved to make the scar vets a tad more defensive, with a magic shield each

Also trimmed some Core points to make one of the stegs an EotG

Also, in your list the old blood has 2 shields.
