So next weekend our local store is having a practice tournament for the Ard Boyz. After lurking the forums for a while this is the list I put together. I am not a veteran at this so any help is appreciated . Slann is going life. Slann Mage - Cupped Hands - Blood Statuette of Spite - Battle Standard - Standard of Discipline - Focused Rumination (Free Dice) - Becalming Cogitation (Discard 6's) - Focus of Mystery (Know 1 Lore) Skink Priest - lvl 2 upgrade - Plaque of Tepok Scar Vet - Burning Blade - Dragon Helm - Light Armor - Shield Scar Vet - Sword of Battle - Enchanted Shield - Light Armor Saurus Warriors x 25 - Full Command Saurus Warriors x 26 - Spears - Full Command Skink Skirmishers x 10 Skink Skirmishers x 10 Skink Skirmishers x 10 Temple Guard x 20 - Full Command - War Banner - Champion has Ironcurse Icon Stegadon Chameleon Skinks x 6 Chameleon Skinks x 6 Terradon Riders x 3 Ancient Stegadon Salamander Hunting Pack (1 Salamander) - Extra Handler Salamander Hunting Pack (1 Salamander) - Extra Handler Total = 2994 I only have 3 Terradon models and that is why the unit is so small. I would like to run 5 but lack models. I'm not sure about just 1 salamander in each pack either maybe 2 per? I also have 6 points left and have no idea what to do with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
At that points level, 2 salamanders per unit should be standard. Other than that, no other comments on the list. Looks pretty solid.
I agree, other than adding another Salamander (and extra handler) I'd not change it up much. Though If I were to change something I'd take away Cupped Hands. With Lore of Life and TG you shouldn't need it much. For the six points, give a Stalker to one of your Chameleon units.
Thanks for the reply guys, as for Horde I don't have enough models to do that and really don't feel like spending money to get more. What should I drop to make room for the sallies? I like the stegs. Maybe drop a unit of skink skirmishers and put the 3 salamanders in 1 unit?
Couldn't disagree more. Hordes make very little sense, as they are so easy to just redirect and avoid. Plus, I just find that 2 units of 20 works better than 1 of 40 in my games.
perhaps im one of the few players who thinks this way, but i view hordes as anvils not hammers. not sure of the 'ard boyz rules, but if any of it is vp related, than i dont understand why you would give your opponent the chance to divide and conquer (2 x 20) vs forcing him to either face you or avoid you (1 x 40). area and point denial seem to be tactics that people dont readily recognize. i prefer to rely on my slann sallies and chameleons to do my dirty work and my block to mop up. if your opponent is focusing all his attention on taking down your horde or trying to avoid hit, chances are hes not thinking about that sallie "wandering aimlessly" down the field . but hey, if your winning with 2 small blocks, why ruin a good thing? just sharing what ive been successful with at 3k (went 7-1 for 1st in the last shop tourny so im not just coming up with random advice )
as for the sallie question, you could run a group of 15 skink skirmishers with javs, giving you enough points left over for another sallie. javs are just as effective at long range with the added bonus of a 6+ and parry in h2h. thatll keep your core above 25% and let you keep those stegs in the fight
Sounds like an awesome record. I don't think the horde unit is a bad idea, I just don't have the models unless I want to rip the arms off of half my saurus and put different weapons on. I was also pretty successful with the 2 units against a skaven player here using the power scrolled 13th spell...which he did 17 wounds on my TG with >:| thank god for regrowth Thanks again for the replies guys I will be fidgeting with my list to fit the extra salamander in
