Hi all,

This will be the place I will document the background for my salamanders army in kings of war. The beginning post will be small but I will update with more information soon.

City: Yaxchilan

Connections:

My salamanders worship the sun, have caused it to become empowered as a minor deity. Not a celestian or shining one.

Key points places:

Temple of the sun - mage priests can be of any subspecies. The city is ruled by a diarchy of the high mage priest and the high clan Lord

The wall of stars- guard wall surrounding the area about the moon gate, built into the sea as well

Moon gate- uncontrollable portal caused by rogue mage priest. Armies of any race can suddenly find themselves marching out of it as if they had seamlessly transitioned from wherever they had been. The portion of the island the gate is centered on used to be a rocky outlook on the sea rolling into plains. Now a cracked land mixed between lava vents and volcanic rock.

Looking forward to this. Does KoW have official salamanders fluff? And do you have a link for it?
Yes it does have official fluff for salamanders placing them on an island chain in the center of the sea which is the main focal point in Kings of War because the sea is basically the middle of the world. The full fluff is available in the Uncharted Empires book along with the salamanders Army list. Unfortunately it is not available anywhere else as far as I am aware.

That book is available here. It's pretty affordable too.

Don't you just love Rogue Wizards with plot devices for magic spells?

I like the start! Also a fan of the real-world Mayan city of the same name, just finished exploring some of the city's artwork!

Curious to see what else you come up with!

I thought the Salamander Island chain was just off the Western edge of the map in the book? o_O What did I misread ?

Anyone have a picture?

Edit: nevermind, found one. Not sure where the salamanders live, but there could be colonies hidden in secret locations throughout the center sea possibly...

I will keep an eye on this as Salamander fluff interests me but I know very little about it.

their original home was off the map to the east, but during the War of Winter the survivors of their original civilization trekked Westward, over a frozen (apparently off map) sea and then through the Abkhazla mountains. eventually they found the "three kings', a trio of volcanos, where their mage-leader declared their new home, and used her own life to set up a protective magic barrier to protect them as they settled in. which lasted until the evil god Winter was killed, and the glacier melted, leaving the volcanos in the new ocean called The Infant Sea.

the map isn't marked obviously, but given the description of their trek, it is probably over near the coastline of Ophidia and Abercarr. there are basically 4 spots i'd say are good candidates.. those two islands just west of the mountains of Abkhazla, that one island off the coast near Amaa-Khopet, or one of those two clusters of islands on either side of the straits of madness.

we can be fairly sure that it isn't the Forsaken islands, since those play a big role in the history of The Brotherhood (the Bretonia like faction) since those are all that remains of their old kingdom. (their new one is elsewhere but since they got a namedrop in the Brotherhood write up but not the salamanders, i doubt they'd be where the salamanders settled. especially since i'm certain they'd have mentioned it if the Salamanders had to basically conquer an existing kingdom to settle on the volcanos.)
