Can anyone remember a time where GW had a sale?

I remember that!

Same. I thought i had one still, but can't seem to find it.
Looked something like this:

Usually around 8 to 10 pages and came folded in an envelope. Monthly free publication.

On the Christmas catalogue at the GW last time mostly consisted on model bundles, made to look cheaper but they were like that for easier ordering but they are still the same price as all others.

I think GW is concerned or just want to roll in money, there was a conversation about model prices today at the workshop among the group and the store manager. One of the reasons why is apparently the moulds for the sprues are ridiculously expensive for making. One of the biggest models, is about over 1000. I reckon they have to replace them sometimes so they fork out lots of money.
This is what I remember roughly, I wish my memory is better.
The whole process is just very expensive.

The store across the road sells the same models but much cheaper, but I stick to GW Workshop due to loyalty to them over the months.

If you can get the models cheaper across the street you should. GW still gets enough of a cut.

I see, I originally thought you were referring to my post above suggesting that little-myth go across the road to get a discount at a FLGS.

No.

No, I was not referring to your previous post.

I hope you have enjoyed my contributions to the topic thus far.

What was the little booklet called? It was something to do with Trolls; the order-pickers at the US warehouse were called... [mail trolls?]

I think it was just called "Troll." You can google "Troll monthly mail order" for the picture above.

EDIT
Found a white dwarf reference to it from July 2002.

I don't understand why White Dwarfs wouldn't be sold at cost since it's very hard to read a White Dwarf and not want to buy something featured.

Agreed... at this point its primary purpose is advertising their products.

There used to be a toy shop near me that sold GW stuff with a fairly good discount when they had their storewide clearance sale. The only real "discount" I've ever got from GW was when they gave me a free Necron Lord when I bought the Assault on Black Reach box way back when it was first released. I immediately bought a Necron Battleforce, so it didn't end up saving me anything....

Usually 20-25% off but one point I got 30% off - which is how my Chaos Space Marines army started. I picked up the Dark Angels and Chaos Space Marines battleforces (which were $150 AU each at the time) for a little over $100. I used to wait for storewide sales to stock up on paint too. Sadly after the place burned down (multiple times under very suspicious circumstances) they didn't include a hobby section when they rebuilt.

Back when I was in high school, the GW that used to be in Glen Burnie, Maryland used to have monthly auctions for stock damaged in transit. They also had clearance sales of stock right before the release of 6th edition, Storm of Chaos and 7th edition. I heard something about there being a sale when they closed the location, but I didn't go, I wasn't active in the hobby at the time.

That is awesome. I wish they still did things like that.

Too bad they didn't auction off the 8th edition books instead of recalling them for destruction/disposal.
