AoS Second Edition

That’s fine, no worries, sorry about that. I think I’ve just been too tense lately with all this University coursework I’ve been doing.

Perfectly understandable, it has been much the same deal here - I submitted my thesis a couple of weeks ago, and I've still got some exams and whatnot left.

Oh, and sorry NIGHTBRINGER, no kick-offs for you this evening.

Skinks can always wary fighter themselfs out of combat tho

Nevermind, I somehow thought they could only use that in their own turn in which case they could get stuck only using wary fighter but back in combat before the next shooting phase and thus could never shoot.

Anyways, still leaves the kairic acolytes and such which go from fairly decent to borderline harmless if they lose their ranged attack in melee while they are supposed to go into melee unlike the judicators of this world.

The Nighthaunt stuff looks awesome.

I even like some of the new SCE models. I don't like that the last of their weaknesses seem to get removed though. But then: we don't know the cost yet. Might not be too severe.

I don't know if the rule changes will affect us much, it is just too early to tell.
But if they nerf shooting a bit and we profit from the magic changes we will probably be fine. If they nerf shooting too much we are screwed since much of our stuff is not really good in melee.

I don't play age of sigmar, but I am excited for new models

Me too.
Orherwise: too early to really say anything.

I think if their rules are well done they can be quite cool, so no problem with them at all.

They also said they'll be making small changes to warscrolls so there's a chance they'll improve our close combat capabilities. Plus if all our heroes can use their command abilities our saurus heroes will be more useful.

We can basically use bloodclaw without the 200pt investment in the batallion.

We can still Teleport our bastis out of combat and shoot with them:)
But at th cost of a teleport, and not able to use melee+shooting in the same turn. Unless you rolled a six for the teleport.

Honestly it’s a change that needed to happen. Shooting has been far too strong and melee armies really seem to lag behind. They haven’t released all the details on this so for all we know certain shooting units have been reworked to make up for this rule change.

Except that they are just force feeding everyone Space Marines in fantasy.

Well, there is something called Cogforts in the Aos lore, and those forts are basically just steampunk titans. My guess is that they will be a forgeworld unit 2-3 years from now. i guess @NIGHTBRINGER will get his, well deserved, laugh.
Hahaha... I would't be surprised!

Space marines? With Sigmar warrior priest vibes? Sign me up. One of the best things about the empire was warrior priests

That’s one situation where we disagree...

I think regardless of how severe the nerf to shooting is we'l probably mostly benefit from it. We simply don't have enough ranged stuff to really be hurt by it. Other factions have far more stuff that'd suffer from it. But yea, it's going to be interesting.

Also, I do hope this means they'l release a new battletome with updated erata. At this point the list of errors and changes starts to pile on quite a lot....

Certainly Disciples of Tzeentch and Kharadron are probably the two armies that will be most hurt by it, although Kharadron at least have Grundstok Thunderers who can retreat the first time they are charged in each enemy turn.

I imagine there will be significant changes coming in with 2nd Edition what with new magic rules and possibly rules from 8th Edition 40K coming in too, e.g. command points (don’t know if it’s certain but you never know), so GW would be bonkers not to update the older armies. I reckon all armies from Sylvaneth onwards should keep their original tomes as they are newer and more up to date, while all armies before that should by all accounts be updated.
