There is this doubles turnament coming up, and I have no idea what I am doing. the Idea is; the two of us deploy together to fight two others at the same time With standard rules. I am teaming With Ratfolk in a double tournament who look something like this; Horde of Shock Troops Horde of Shock Troops Artilery Shredder Death Engine w/vile Sorcery Warlock w/Wind Blast Swarmcrier I am pretty much in charge, as my partner only has had one test mach w/me, altho I have only played Three matches in one turnament sooo… I need feedback I was thinking of switching one Shock Troop for a horde of Brutes to add Bane Chant and Mount to the warlock and a couple items. My list is Horde of Primes Horde of Primes Komodon (To protect his War-Machines) Clan Lord on Fire Drake W/Wings Ghekkotah Skylord or Horde of Primes Horde of Ancients on Rhinos Fire Drake Clan Lord on Fire Drake W/Wings and Blessing of the Gods(Elite) I worry the first list do not have enough punch, but I like having two flyers to go behind and the Komodon as a bodyguard for the poor War-machines The second list however hits hard, but has less bodies on the ground Any feedback or comments are apreciated
Regarding the Ratkin lists number one is just better, don't change the Shocktroops, they are probably the best Infantry in the whole game. Only possible change I would make is to take out the shredder and the Artillery for three Regiments of Slaves. You can't go wrong with Slaves, they are amazingly cheap. I also like list one better for the Salamanders as well. Really nice list, I would change the Komodon for a Lekelidon though, so much better and use the remaining 30 points for a Brew of Strength on a Horde of Primes or the Blade of the Beast-Slayer on the Skylord and some random 10 point item.
If your teammate brings two hordes of Shock Troops you don't need to take two hordes of Primes. Collectively, they will take up too much board space. What you need is some speed and some punch. Ancients on Rhinosaurs are exactly that. If you can find points for the Brew of Haste, it will benefit them greatly. Or you can give them even more punch by moving the Blessing of the Gods to them. Also, you don't have any real chaff. That is a huge faux pas in my book. You could exchange the Fire Drake for two Lekelidons, which could serve that role, while not sacrificing the shooting part completely. And their longer range and piercing means that it is possible for them to actually do more damage than the Fire Drake would have done anyway. For your friend's list, the only change I would recommend is to get rid of the Wind blast and use the points for something useful. Anything, really, is better than Wind blast. It is extremely situational, and in the few occurrences where it could make a difference it is easily countered by your opponent.
Sooo… two opposing viewpoints in two posts. I recognise the bennefit of slaves, but I thought the war-macines would be better With the large amount of infantry. I did however make an alternate list With slaves for my team mate to decide… he gave the decition to me, and I went with the slaves due to the scenarios in the turnament. The Leikadon has been added to the list, seems it is ilegal to not have one As for the Wind blast, It was added due to the capure-the-point/Grab-the-trasure scenarios in the turney, and it screwed me over last time (Read: It anoyed me), altho' I do not mind kicking it to the curb for a better option. I made anther list: Salamander Primes Horde(40) Ancients on Rhinosaurs Horde(6) -Blessing of the Gods Lekelidon Lekelidon Clan Lord on Fire Drake Hero (Mon) - Wings Altho I do miss the Skylord this is a Nice little toolbox of Beasties. Altho I am loath to remove the Clanlord I could also og With: Salamander Primes Horde - Brew of Strength 30 Ancients on Rhinosaurs Horde - Brew of Haste 15 Lekelidon Lekelidon Mage-Priest Hero (Inf) - Bane Chant (2) 15 Ghekkotah Skylord Hero (LrgCav) - Blessing of the Gods EDIT: Oh, and I realy found the to-many-bodies argument from Rapax convicing wich is why I went With the Rhinos on this list.
If it's 1000 points sadly you cannot use Two Lekelidons if using the CoK rules. You can easily swap one for a Skylord on list 1 taking out the Elite from the Ancients. That sounds REALLY good to me.
Unfortunatly that would put me at 1010p I did however put together another list: (yes, this is actualy quite fun for me ) Salamander Primes Horde(40) Ancients on Rhinosaurs Horde(6) -Blessing of the Gods Lekelidon Herald Clan Lord on Fire Drake -Wings -Ensorcelled Armour Alternatively: Salamander Primes Horde - Brew of Strength Ceremonial Guard Troop Ancients on Rhinosaurs Horde - Blessing of the Gods Lekelidon Mage-Priest - Bane Chant (2) Ghekkotah Skylord
Again, if you are using the CoK rules the Ensorcelled Armour can't be on the Clan Lord sadly. That was one of the first combos to get shut down. Try Blade of the Beast-Slayer on the Skylord ,that is amazing. If you aren't using the CoK rules go with it! Just so it's easier for you you might want to use this Web to build the list: http://kow2.easyarmy.com/clash-of-kings-2018.aspx
I am usin the easy army Builder, but it has an anoying habit of switching back to 1.7 errata Version. Grrr :/ Gona have to revisit some tings tomorow morning, oh well. EDIT; or I do it now, or else I cant sleep Salamander Primes Horde - Brew of Strength 30 Ghekkotah Warriors Troop - Hammer of Measured Force 20 Ancients on Rhinosaurs Horde - Blessing of the Gods 25 Lekelidon Mage-Priest - Bane Chant (2) 15 Ghekkotah Skylord - Blade of the Beast Slayer EDIT THE SECOND; Switch the Hammer of MF for an Inspiring Talisman on the Mage Priest
