At this point, if I lived in the UK, I would leave. I would leave now while I'm allowed to leave and can get some money for selling my house, before I'd just have the house taken from me.

You got to leave BEFORE purge time. The smart people left Hong Kong BEFORE mainland China took over.

The question is... go where? The UK is a bit ahead of the curve in terms of self-destruction, but most of Europe is following suit, with only a handful of countries going against the grain (Poland, Hungary, etc.).

That's probably true. Of the European countries, I hold Switzerland in the highest of regards.

I'm not sure how feasible immigration there would be... especially for large numbers of people.

I mean the USA has it's own problems, not the least of which is that is seems increasingly set on tearing itself apart.

Trump may have stemmed the flow of illegal migration for now, but he has made quite a few follies as of late and I expect that will equate to the democrats taking the next presidential election against whoever the next Republican candidate is. And once that happens, the doors will likely swing wide open again.
 
I don't think the who is in the White House is that important. The US is a Federal system, the UK (and most European countries) is a unitary system.

I think governors and mayors have more opportunity to affect the lives of normal people than the president.

I don't expect the Democrats to win the presidency in 2028. That doesn't mean I think they will never win the presidency again, I would be extremely surprised if they won 2028, because they don't have a good bench of candidates right now.

In some ways yes and in some ways no.

In terms of our current discussion on illegal and legal migration, the Executive branch of the government is king. Under Joe Biden, illegals were flowing over the border, but Trump put an end to it within weeks. And then of course there is the whole tariffs fiasco, which is another executive branch flex.

I don't think they will win because they have a great bench of candidates (they really don't), I think they'll win on a backlash vote. Biden stayed in his basement and won the 2020 election, so they have proven they can win with a subpar candidate. I think Trump has ticked off enough people that people will simply vote for "the other guy (party)".

Of course this is pure speculation on my part. Also, it depends on how the remainder of his term goes. But if it continues going downhill, I think the next guy (or Trump himself if he is crazy enough to try to somehow run again despite the two term limit) is dead in the water. The midterms will be interesting and should provide some actual insight.

There's a good chance of winning thanks to this, but without a good team and a proper leader, that success won't last long as the backlash would turn against them

I consider myself an intelligent person, and in my old age I like to say "I don't know, so I should not say anything."

I don't know what the future of American politics is going to look like or how it will affect me. Right now, what the politicians are doing doesn't affect me personally. That could change. But for now I must battle my greatest enemy.

I'm doing pretty well now, but I remember when I lived in a crappy apartment and ate a lot of ramen noodles. It was not the classiest neighborhood but I never felt unsafe.

Right now, it seems the UK has a blatant two-tiered police system. If my home area did that, I would sell my house at a loss and start over elsewhere. I'd rather eat ramen noodles in a smelly apartment than fear criminals and the police.

I don't see how the same people who stayed stoic in underground shelters during the Blitz and followed Churchill would tolerate the stuff that is happening now.

Then again, compared to my WWII air force veteran grandfather, I'm a lot less tough and manly.

Moving to another country is a major life changing decision. It is hard, time consuming & costly (especially if selling at a loss as you propose). In such a scenario, you have to consider what the future of your potential new home might be like. You'll never know with perfect clarity, but you must make your best educated guess. Doing otherwise would simply thrust you into a potential "out of the frying pan and into the fire" type scenario.

But in terms of crime and safety, I believe the UK, even with its colossal migrate crime uptick, is still significantly safer than the USA. So following from your "right now" plan of action, it would be a very poor move in that regard. On the other hand, if one calculates that the migrant crisis will eventually make the UK less safe than the US in the not too distant future, then it might warrant a move.

However, with either approach, @Killer Angel 's suggestion of moving the Switzerland is far better than a move to the USA. It's a safer, cleaner, friendlier and more high trust society.

I agree with your assessment. People were a lot more resilient back in the day. Anyone fighting through WWII is likely immune to "microaggressions". We've gotten soft.

Ceuta is everything but an out-of-control immigration problem.
These people are sent to ceuta en masse escorted by Morocco's police. They are not migrants, they are a weapon.

in may 2021, 8.000 "migrants" crossed the borders of Ceuta, more than 6.000 in a single day. Why? Spain was giving medical treatments to the leader of the Polisario (a nationalist front opposing the regime of Morocco). that first "migrant crisis" was a political manoveur / reprisal orchestrated by Morocco.

this is happening once again on a bigger scale. Why?
I cannot be sure about it about it, but there are certain facts i cannot not look at:
1) Spain recognized Palestine as an indipendent country and right now is probably the strongest EU adversary to the politic of Israel.
2) Trump is right now in bad terms wih Sanchez, he's threatening to suspend commertial exchanges due to Spain not wanting to align with EU efforts in increasing the military spending (advocated by USA).
3) Morocco is stongly tied to Israel and USA by the recent Abraham accords.

IDK if those are the only reasons behind this crisis (once again, caused primarily by Morocco), but are certainly a factor to consider

The number one driver of immigration is the relative wealth and job/welfare opportunities in the countries in question.

I would want to live in a wealthy western country, even if I had to start at the bottom, especially if I had to start at the bottom.

In real life I'm close to retirement, I might want to do some world traveling before I'm too old tor travel. Then I might find some place I'd like more than the United States. Given how strong the dollar is, there places I could live live like a proverbial king in, but there are hidden costs to being an expatriate American in southeast Asia or Eastern Europe and I want to stay close to my friends and family.

I've only been to Mexico (Tijuana tourist sites) and Canada (canoe friendly parks).
