Are you doing the gold method they use in the AOS painting guide?, I really like how that gold looks and use it on all my minis now.
Very true, I never gamed before AOS but since it's release me and my son have started playing and we love it, we went to Warhammer world last week...
Only thing to consider is which base adds to the look of your models, most miniatures look better on round bases but you will restrict the games...
Are you playing AOS? If so no restrictions regarding bases but just be careful about height as LOS can be a game changer.

I like the grey pipes all I would do is maybe add a bit of colour to the eye and tongue.
