Unless the Skrox unit is tiny (11 and 1 methinks) or huge (50 and 5 me thinks) I'd steer away from Skrox.
In low points game I like a level two Skink Priest with the Ruby of Ring of Ruin. That's three spells for pretty cheap.
The magic missile that Anvil casts is weak but the Anvil effect that gives them free moves/charges is very scary.
