Hello all, as the title suggests i'm taking part in a slow grow league start with 500pts then add 500pts each month. so where do I start i've got a lot of ideas but I think first month I will get the battleline troops under my belt then add the fun stuff. now i've not got much game experience so any help greatly received so 1st list saurus sunblood 10 warriors 10 warriors 10 warriors battalion
pretty much. I'd reinforce my melee troops, bringing some shooting also, with some move to take objectives. What about: saurus sunblood 20 warriors 10 skinks 10 skinks or Skink Starpriest 20 warriors 10 skinks 10 chama skinks (yeah, i know it ruins your plan about the formation)
For 500 i would go: Scar vet on carno 5 knights 5 knights You get knights as battline and a complete tank of a monster to smash through the enemy. This list seems pretty solid to me.
The slow grow is always hard, because it is going to grow so you want to set yourself up to get to the 2000+ point list, so you need ti start with a strong base. Is 750 the next step or 1000. What is your plan for the next step?
Thanks for the input folks, taking a Carno at 500 pts feels a bit dirty, does any one have much luck with skinks I small units
I haven't had much luck with units of 10 skinks, they kind of just die, usually from shooting. I like @dwarfepic suggestion, but here is how I would go At 500 Oldblood on Carnosaur Unit of Guard Unit of Skinks At 1000 The same + Your original sunblood and warriors At 1500 Add in an oldblood on foot amd a scarvet on cold one 2 more unit of guard 10 more skinks to the unit if allowed Drop the sunclaw for the bloodclaw.
Yeah, in my opinion our ussual core units (skinks in 10, saurus) suck. Ok, maybe they are not very bad, but there are better options. The guard is neat, i dont have a opinion on the knights. Need to try out those. Anyway, you cant go bad, taking the guard.
10 Skinks may be really great... but it depends on what do you want from them. they move fast, cost almost nothing and so they are a perfect disposable screen. Plus, they also shoot. For example, a screen of skinks in front of a couple of sallies, works really well.
I am a total newb to this but his is an army I was thinking of trying: 10 warriors 3 ripperdactyls 1 slann starmaster my thoughts were to summon more models each turn until about 40 warriors and 6+ rippers. Your thoughts?
Sadly it won't work. In matched plays (aka with points) to summon you must keep some points in a "reserve pool", and you use those saved points to summon, otherwise you cannot.
thanks-I just learned that tonight actually. I haven't played for 20+ years, the rules have changed a bit
I'm also looking for a slow-grow to tournament ready list, and would go for something like this: Leaders Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur (260) Saurus Eternity Warden (140) Skink Starpriest (100) Tehenhauin, Prophet of Sotek (80) Units Saurus Guard x 10 (200) Saurus Guard x 10 (200) Saurus Guard x 5 (100) Ripperdactyl Riders x 6 (280) Razordons x 2 (120) Skink Handlers x 3 (40) Chameleon Skinks x 5 (120) Skinks x 20 (160) - Boltspitters & Star bucklers Batallions Eternal Starhost (80) Shadowstrike Starhost (120) Total: 2000/2000 Not positive yet how I'd grow it, but I'd definitely start with the Scar-Vet as my general.. then I was thinking 1 razordon and the 20 skinks, or 1 razordon, 10 skinks and 5 guard...
At 500 why not Scar-vet carno- 260 2× 10 skinks- 160 Tehenhauin- 80 Not the toughest list, but Tehenhauin giving the skinks rerolls on saves and runs. Shoot and move shoot and move then clean up with the Scarno.
