Short update about my Guards, still without pics. I almost finished the weapons, shaded them yesterday. Only work left is doing the banners and then assemble them. The last step will be to highlight some parts a bit (I'll do that on the assembled models as I don't know yet how they will hold their weapons) and then some bases. Man I have worked on them for quite a while now. Combo of underestimating the required amount of work, more real life work to do, being sick, and family taking up a lot of my spare time. Also playing around with Oyumaru a few evenings. Still thinking about the next project. Maybe finishing the undead. But then I also bought that second Bastiladon last week... Here's the inspiration for my paint job that I am aiming towards, young Florida redbelly turtles: Yeah I know that's one hell of a task but I want to push myself a bit.
Can't wait to see how this turns out Bastiladon are one of my favourite models because of their shells
Spray it all black or yellow with a spray can, then take blu tac roll it out and mask where you want it to be the other colour then spray it with the opposite colour, add detail etc with a brush
Looks doable, mostly it's just starting with black and then just painting layers of different colored blobs that get smaller with each layer.
Hahaha a funny thing just happened: My daughter was watching me paint Saurus Guard and suddenly she said: "The blue dino is dressed up as a unicorn!"
My daughter didn't like my barbarian manhunter... "she's too light skinned... should look more like mummy..." Children are great! (I just imagine my wife walking around with just a cloak and two axes... 9 months a year she can't sleep without a warm bottle...)
@neveroddoreven did something similiar, more green and less yellow. Spoiler: neveroddoreven bastiladon I liked the killer-whale eyes on the front (link):
*sigh* it has almost always been done before. Regardless of what idea I have for this hobby. And also better than I could do it... ....anyway I will still do it. Cool Basti, thanks for posting it!
Get used to it , everything has been done but adapt and create your own version, your relatively new to the hobby, @neveroddoreven has been at it for years so you can't judge yourself against him, well you can if you want to get depressed. Another guy that will depress you is michael pisarski, the stuff this guy creates is mind blowing.
Had to google him because I didn't know the name, but yeah I have seen some of his work. Really awesome stuff, incredible details.
In other news: My Guards are nearing completion. They are fully assembled and highlighted except the banners which are in the works right now. After that it is only the bases and then I'll move on to the next thing which is probably converting 10 Skinks to Chameleon Skinks.
Finished the banners (almost happy with them) and working on the bases now whilst preparing my next project. Won't make it today since I want to make those bases a bit more fancy than others, but I might finish them tomorrow or - more likely - on Tuesday.
Yeah I hope so. Man I am so slow these days. Y'all will probably be disappointed when you see the results because they have taken me so long, so you expect great quality... I don't want to show them if they aren't finished.
