Blog Aginor's Painting Blog

I really, REALLY love the idea of the paintjob on the Bastiladon. So looking forward to see that started.

Did a few color tests.
I think I will do it this way:

On every scale there will be two lines and a patch in the middle, everything painted with moot green.
In step two the outer line and the center will be layered with yellow, while the other line stays moot green.
Then everything will be shaded green to put it together a bit. I tested the green shade on all colors and it doesn't tint them too much if you are careful and apply it thinly.

On this sprue I tested it as small as I could. It would fit on the smallest scales of the back armor.
I can do it a bit more accurately I think. I will practice a bit more and then start on the Basti.

The outermost spiky scakes and top spikes will be moot green, layered or drybrushed.

Looking good so far. After the lines are painted a wash with athonian camoshade would tie all together and hide any imperfections.

Here is a short WIP
I could have done the lines a bit more accurately but actually I think they have a nice organic look this way.
I am aware I screwed up on a few of them, so I will neaten that up in the end.

When that step is through the next one will be the yellow layering and then shade.

I think they look fabulous. I don't feel you need to neaten them up, I think they are absolutely fine the way they are. I think you have created an excellent organic look. Awesome!

Looking really cool so far. Can't wait to see it finished.

In other news:
My stockings contained a few things.
Most people probably wouldn't be happy to find a dead frog in there but I am! ;) :D

I also got a Wight King with Black Axe and a pair of Morghasts. So I guess my January's and maybe also February's free time is already filled with work. Not complaining though. :)

I noticed I haven't painted the small Gryph Hound from the Silver Tower set and it was sitting on my table taunting me.
So I asked my wife and daughter which color I should paint it.
They said....
Purple. Of course.

So here it is. It looks a bit like something from Monster High, but I like it. The main colors are black, Army Painter Alien Purple and GW Emperors Children for the drybrushed highlights.
