Hi all,

Like some of you may know I have a Soft spot for the Start Collecting boxes of AoS.
I have started, and need to continue, a range of battles between different SCBes.

To this extent I regularly gaze upon the SCBes on the GW site and notice how not all faction/subfactions have a SCB. This leaves me wondering what would their SCBes look like?

In this thread I will be searching for the ideal combination of units and Battalion bonus for those factions, looking at the existing SCBes as a reference.

Please join in with your thoughts and preferences.

Grrr, Imrahil

In the list below I will keep track of which SCBes we have descussed and link to the latest Version we have come up with.

- SCB Hammerhal
- SCB Tempest's Eye
- SCB The Living City
- SCB Phoenicium

First let us astablish which factions/subfactions don't have a SCB yet.

Order:
- Cities of Sigmar: Freeguild
- Cities of Sigmar: Wood Elves
- Lumineth Realm Lords
Death:
- Nighthaunt
- Ossiarch Bonereapers
Destruction:
- Bonesplitterz
- Sons of Behemat

One could argue that the Cities of Sigmar: High Elves also deserve an own SCB.

I have ordered the CoS subfactions by race rather then City.
Perhaps some of the named subfactions would be merged into one City.

Is there someone with the army book to verify which Cities there are?

Also would we give the mortal followers of Chaos all their own SCB?

Let's see.
Hammerhall
Phoenicium
Greywater Fastness
Temple's Eye
The Living City
Anvilgard
Hallowheart

Thanks, so 2 out of the 7 have got their own SCB.

Misthåvn and Har Kuron was added in Broken Realms Morathi too :)

A few years back there were some army boxes themed around the Cities of Sigmar. These featured Tempest's eye, Hammerhal and Anvilgard. The last one has its own SCB already so this will help to see the ratio between an army box and a SCB.

Here is the Anvilguard Army box vs the SCB:

The difference here is that the SCB (thankfully) does not include any Stormcast Eternals and one less unit of Black Arc Corsairs.

For the remaining two army boxes I will make different posts, so I can link them more direct.

Following the above ratio I will now look at the Hammerhal Army box:

If we were to strip away the SCE we are left with the following:

- 10 Freeguild Guard
- 10 Freeguild crossbowmen
- 3 Demigryph Knights
- a Celestial Hurricanum

- a Freeguild general with Great Hammer (?)
- a Freeguild general on Armored Horse (?)

The later two are no longer available on the GW webstore so they will be dropped as well.
To fit the cost and model density of a typical SCB I suggest to swap the crossbowmen for a Freeguild General

What remains is as follows:
- 10 Freeguild Guard
- 3 Demigryph Knights
- a Celestial Hurricanum
- a Freeguild General

Thoughts??

With this box there is just a little difference. If we were to strip the SCE away we almost end up with the SCB Greywater Fastness which I think is a bit of a pity. We could take this a different turn and get rid of the Gyrobomber, the Warden King and the unit of Ironbreakers because they are already in the Greywater SCB.

This will leave us with:
- 10 Irondrakes
- 6 Prosecutors
- a Lord-Veritant

This will give you not a lot of units, but cost-wise it is in the same ballpark.

Thoughts??

For the other cities I haven't yet found a reference set, but by shifting the possible units together there might be a possible mix worthy of a SCB.

The Living city has the optional units of
- Eternal Guards
- Sisters of the Watch
- Wild riders
- Sisters of the Thorn
- Nomad Prince

the SCBes of 80 euros are roughly 125 euros worth of models
the SCBes of 70 euros are roughly 110 euros worth of models

With the units above I can fit together the following:
- 10 Eternal Guards
- 10 Sisters of the Watch
- 5 Wild Riders
- a Nomad Prince

For a SCB of Phoenicium there is not a lot of choice but what there is will fit in the box:

- 10 Phoenix Guard
- 10 Shadow Warriors
- either a Flamespyre Phoenix or a Frostheart Phoenix

Skaven need at least one that's not Clan Pestilens. Sadly, a lot of this coincides with some kits having not aged well and thus in need of renewal.

Skryre kind of had one through Carrion Empire:
- 1 Warlock Bombardier
- 1 Doomwheel
- 1 Warp Lightning Cannon/Plagueclaw Catapult
- 3 Stormfiends

Due to Skaven being a horde-focused faction, I really dislike the stormfiends mechanically. Substitute 10 acolytes instead (preferably a newer plastic kit instead of the current metal blisters), and then you might be seeing some value.

Eshin also need new models badly, particularly the Night Runners and Gutter Runners.
- 1 Verminlord (Deceiver)
- 1 Deathmaster
- 5-10 Gutter Runners
- 10-20 Night Runners

Moulder is in even worse straits, having only the stormfiends and Hellpit abomination be their most recent model updates.

- 1 Master Moulder
- 20 Giant Rats
- 3 Rat Ogres
- 1 Hellpit Abomination

Verminus/Masterclan can be handled at the same time with practically zero unit model updates.

- 1 Grey Seer on Screaming Bell
- 1 Clawlord
- 10 Stormvermin
- 20 Clanrats
