Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 25/1: The Steg is Back! Exams are over, and I started painting right away.... Here is how the bad boy is looking so far. I stuck with the blue/orange shields. I was okay with the contrast when i mounted the platforms on to the steg. I hope you guys like it
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 25/1: The Steg is Back! Thanks - Btw, your TG guide is awesome News: I'v finished four of the skink crew and the chief. Here is two shots of the chief. The picture sucks, sorry about that. Damn.... those skink models are tinny.... My fat fingers really had a hard time. Im not thrilled by the result, but ill live with it. I like the shield and spear tho' Im going to use some magnets for this steg, witch should enable meto switch between the steg, ancient steg w/EoTG or wo/EoTG, just havnt got my hands on them. If its possible, ill try to do somthing similar to the crew, chief and priest. Time will tell. - Stay tunned
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 25/1: Stinky Chief I'm thinking about post-fitting my steg with magnets, in order to be able to put anchief or priest on it. In the future I would like to have a converted EoG but I'm not up to painting another steg in the near time. I really like your chief and steg. The bony scales looks very nice. I am looking forward to see the whole thing painted!
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 25/1: Stinky Chief I understand.... The steg is fun for a while... I think the magnet idea is really cool. Thanks alot! Well, im a really slow painter, but hopefully i'll get some stuff done during this week. Here's a quick snap of the two giant pipes i'v just finished:
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Stinky Chief 'n Blowpipes Mate your skink looks good same with the pipes... Keep it up
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Stinky Chief 'n Blowpipes still looking very good. i really enjoy the strong colors and great contrast. it will look SWEEET when done
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Stinky Chief 'n Blowpipes Odd Form of Inspiration Its kind of funny.... My cat just wrecked my girlfriends chandelier. As in smashed it into a billion pieces. which is good.... because I hated it .... And it had some shinny glass/crystal pieces which gave me a good idea for my EoTG So i started working on it right away. I worked one of the crystals with a drybrush of different blues. The plan was to paint the crystal, so it would look like its spinning around. Im not sure it worked out? The plan is to fit the crystal in this frame (far from finished): I appreciate all the feedback guys
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration Wow that Crystal is great... That is far beyond my skills and it looks amazing... Keep up the good job. PS. I checked your other stuff and they are looking good too. Edit: How dihd you make the crystal btw?
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration Thanks alot mate It was really simple. I didnt make the crystal itself, its a part of my girlfriends broken chandelier. I basecoated it with a dark blue. I then highlighed the edges with a lighter blue and finished the whole thing with 3 different drybrushes while spinning it
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration Quick EoTG update Here is the latest work on the crystal and frame. Its not a 100% finished, but its allmost there. Nice weekend to you guys
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration that looks good! however, i have one suggestion. do a final edge "wet brush" with pure white (possibly with a dab of blue) on the edges. it will give it more of a "clear crystal" and less of a "natural stone" look. the color is good, but a very sharp edge highlight would lift this from looking good to looking great. best regards
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration Just to make sure I get you right. When you say "wet brush", you mean to blend some water with white (and maybe a little blue) and highlight the egdes with is? i'd love for the crystal to get a more classy/crystal look
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration erm.. no.. wet brushing is a technique just like dry brushing, but a little different. you do need a paint that is slightly watered down, and you do not wipe away as much as you would when dry brushing. then you take your brush and place it perpendicularly to the edge you want to highlight. touch the middle of the brush to the edge, and move the brush along the edge. since you have a sharp edge, only the edge will get any paint. this is a way to ensure an extreme edge highlight but without any paint getting anywhere else (dry brushing is much messier). this only works when you have good sharp edges, and a crystal is a textbook example GL
Re: bgm200's Lizards. Update 6/2: Odd Form of Inspiration Hehehe, im quite glad I asked I'll give it a shot, and let you guys see the result in the near future. Thanks for the advice
nice! That is looking perfect. Can't wait to see the whole thing finished. A couple of the EotG conversions on this forum are inspiring; makes me want to do something unique with mine. Keep it up
