Hey everyone. This is my paint blog where I will be sharing my progress and models with you all. I'm constantly wanting to improve my skills so any criticism, feedback or tips is greatly appreciated. feel free to say whatever you want about my models and how I can improve them. Over the years I want to get better and better and maybe, maybe one day I will become as good as some of the people on here. Anyhow, here is my Blog:
As a few of you know I stopped doing the hobby for a few months, Now I'm back and I'm going to be here for a long time so without further ado: These are some of my models from before. I'm not going to lie. I don't like the skinks and think the paint is way to think and a bit messy, but the bases are nice: My Collection (Skink priest, several skinks, a salamander) Here is my salamander up close: And here are some of my skinks And Finally My skink Star priest: Any feedback Is Highley appreciated:
I am taking a lot of inspiration from total war Warhammer two and all of its lizardmen models and plan to almost use that as a base for my paint scheme from now on:
I tried the Total War scheme on Skinks and quickly backed off from this idea, but on a larger models it might work well. Reason is the colors are coming from nicely blending scale textures and bruises which is too much detail to put on really small model such as the Skink one. In the end I did something much simpler, but maintained more or less the colors. I eagerly await to see your approach to the problem though! Bases are beautiful. May I ask what do you use for the swamp water effect? I'm looking for something similar for my cold ones/saurus knights.
Thanks! Yea, I do see how the skinks could be really difficult to pull off as they are so detailed with lots of different textures. I use AK interactive swamp water gel, It comes In a Very large container for small models and is a tiny bit hard to get a nice smooth effect. but other than that it is pretty good for getting the general effect of swampy/dirty water - https://ak-interactive.com/product/water-gel-swamp-green-250ml This is the website that sells it. You can probably find it for cheaper elsewhere though
Cost is not bad in Poland for that. I will definitely think of buying that when I start basing the knights Thanks!
Welcome back! Still loving your wonderful detailed bases. real swamp vibe. Good luck with the new colorscheme Gr, Imrahil
Hey guys, thanks for all the kind words. I know this thread has been a bit inactive but I’m back into painting and miniatures now for the long run. Hey, a quick update, I have finished the tree and have started to lay the foundations of a new diorama. Spoiler: Diorama beginnings I plan to have 3-4 skinks running past the tree, but I have more plans than that .
Hey guys, A quick update - I have been working on the terrain ALOT. I keep on feeling the need to smooth things out, add more, take some away. But now I think I have got the shape and have moved on to adding some rocks along with some basic foliage. Spoiler: Diorama With terrain Next, I will be able to start adding some smaller details such as skulls as well as adding the more 3D Ferns and vines.
An update, after some thinking I have added a rock for the leader of the cohort to stand on, this will give him some more hight and allow him to stand out alot more, I also made the path alot more cluttered and gave the whole thing an overgrown jungle vibe as well as glazing the floor to make it look moist and wet. In the picture, you can see the many mushrooms that haven't been painted yet so that is what I will be working on next Spoiler: Diorama with ferns Its starting to come together alot now, all I need is the skinks and the canopy on top along with the mushrooms.
very, very nice stuff I love your work, real jungle-ly vibe. I am missing all the tiny crawling and flying creatures Good luck, love to see more Gr, Imrahil
