We are Devo? Wait, hrm... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_dome "We designed them [their hats], Jerry [Casale] and I. We were influenced both by German Bauhaus movement and geometric fashion, and Aztec temples. We just liked the look. It looked good, and it didn't look like any other bands out there. We weren't interested in wearing groovy hats or groovy clothing. We kind of looked like Lego toys or something by the time we got those on our heads, and that was a positive thing.[1]"
Beautiful! Unfortunately, I had a mishap with my engine. White spirits in an oil wash reacted with my foam and dissolved a lit of the detail I had sculpted into it. In the end, I salvaged what I could, and made it look ruined. C'est la vie, can't win em all, etc...
How does it look lit up, post paint job?!...or was that not a built in effect? As I look at it now, it looks like you just had a light shining under what was originally a blue colored foam lol. Turned out great!!
Yeah, i haven't tried it - it was just it sitting on one of my work lamps, but i was think at the time to just sick some LEDS inside. I might give it a go tomorrow, postman hasn't brought my stuff yet, and it wont come tomorrow (Paddys day).
New stuff arrived, thankfully. Keep me going during the lockdown. First up, bastilidon. Really love this model, it's got great lines, and just looks awesome. I'm doing this one green/tan, and I'll do the other one red/tan.
Wow I like what you've done a lot. Love the green scales and the crystal excellent work!! The Gold might bennefit from a wash though. Grrr, Imrahil
No worries, I'm just happy people get some enjoyment out of my stuff. Here's it at ~80% - currently all washed, let it dry overnight. Then mattecoat, light edge drybrush on the shell, touch up the gold bits and finish the base
Very nice, greatly painted I like your yellow skinks and the Bastilodon itself very much. Looking forward to the red one Keep up the good work Grrr, Imrahil
I love the eerie contrast created by the solid, dark eyes!! Definitely makes them feel more other-worldly. Fantastic job with everything mate!
I like the previous bastiladon, but I love the shell on this one. If you don't mind sharing, what was your paint recipe for it?
Airbrushed in sequence: Black primer Hull Red Blood Red Ferrari Red Orange Fire Gold Yellow Then I postshaded over the grooves again with hull red, and washed into the cracks with a brown wash, taking care not to leave much/any wash on the raised or yellow bit.
Finished the other bastilidon. Happy with the shell on this one, turned out nice and fiery. I also left the Skinks off - I'll repurpose them as skink handlers.
