Here is an example of using the white to really pop the corners. Obviously it's a very different gem, but the effect is the same.
DISCLAIMER. I did not paint that. That is from GW I want to try and replicate it though! It doesn't look that tough. For the swirls, I would say start out using very thinned paint, build up the effect, then bring it home with a thicker, well placed highlight of the white and redefine the shape with going back to the darker color. They probably used some wet blending/glazing to get the darker colors established.
Pretty productive day for me besides catching up on dishes and laundry, I finished a test model for my conquistador/empire/freeguild army and I’m pretty happy with it. I wanted the basing to be similar but not exact to what I’m planning with the lizardmen, seeing how there’s no large bases for the empire (so far) it’s just a homebrew flock and odds and ends blend that was given to me by a friend. The lizardmen however will have basing from lord Marcus and plants from China (leafy stuff) as well as the general flock blend. Speaking of lizardmen, I got the gems and the base color on the bastilidon finished so now I really am just waiting for plants to show up.
Cool! Your conquistador turned out great. Curious what backstory you have made for these guys, and of course more pics are required! I also really enjoyed that starry crystal.
I’m working on a backstory with the lost legion will update! I’ll get more models next month or two, tapped out for now lol!
Big shout out to lord Marcus used his basing pieces and wow did they turn out nicely! Highly recommend them! With the basing finished that means my bastilidon is finished as well!
I’m back! It’s been a crazy time with work and other commitments. Just finished my first salamander and skink handlers,
