GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Deja vu...

I swear, digital rulebooks and apps, while convenient, have really killed the art of releasing a rulebook. Now it's all FAQs and errata's and updates that make owning the book bordering on pointless.

Meh, I still like to read a hardcopy rulebook, and hold it in my hands... feel the paper of the pages and the hardback cover. And for me it is still a much more convenient way to access the rules than having to download the rulebook's PDF onto my phone (or save it on Google Drive), then access it and wait for the highly-detailed pages to load. Not to mention when my phone is as dysfunctional and disobedient as a 4-year-old child can be despite being that age itself :p

Oh, I'm the same. The neurotic in me wants a physical book, not least of which because that way I actually own the thing. I'm the same way with videogames; sure it's convenient for my library to be digital... But I want the disc so I have the thing in actuality.

Plus I would much rather be able to flip the book open to a page and show the other player the rule in question than hand over my phone.

Also hear hear regarding the phone and age of such. Mine is 7 years old, with all the creaking and groaning of a geriatric that comes with out. Makes doing anything a slow and tedious affair, and that's before getting to things like PDF reading

Me too. When it comes to books and novels, nothing beats a physical copy. For a quick glance, a digital copy can be convenient, but when I really want to get into it and actually enjoy the process of reading, in need an old school book in my hands.

RIP to one of the keystone illustrators of Warhammer, right from the birth of Warhammer Fantasy in 1983, right up to the era in which both it and 40K really became a huge part of my life, from 2008-2014.

The Grim Darkness of the Far Future and the Warhammer World will never be the same without you.

I'm moderately curious...
There will be interesting new miniatures that will be scalped and will no more appear in the stock, before i will have a chance to buy them? :p

FOMO is a blight that needs to be purged. All it does is encourage scalpers because why would they NOT buy the entire stock when they know that supply won't keep up with demand anyway?

I get peeved off enough when I try to buy something that isn't part of a FOMO but the supply vanishes at ludicrous speeds regardless. Never you mind what happens when I want to buy something which is going to fall under the FOMO umbrella.

But onto less... infuriating... subjects.

How many battletomes is the current edition of AoS missing? Might be seeing some lizard love this reveal. Maybe the new battletome and some new skink sculpts to replace the old ones... (heh)...

And if we DO get new skink sculpts, we're one step closer to lizardmen leaving the Legacy Race status in Old World, because they'll have different models they can use compared to Seraphon. I say one-step closer, because the big dinos are likely not getting replaced anytime soon... though I suppose the original metal Kroq-Gar could take the place of the saurus on carnosaur.

And yes, I know this is just wishful thinking. Let me snort my hopaine. *SNORT* MMMMM.... That's the good stuff.

Moving away from skinks... there is the possibility of Saurus Guard getting new sculpts, but I think a while back somebody here mentioned that the temple guard are likely getting phased out?

Moving away from the scaley bois entirely... I think new Chaos Warrior models for the Old World was implied. The marauders got updated models, the old Chaos Warriors aren't even shown on the GeeDubs webstore... it goes without saying that an announcement of the new Arcane Journal will come, with the reveal of the new warriors. Do I think the Chaos Warriors needed updating? Nope. If we wanted that, we could just buy some of the AoS ones. but whatever.

Again, I don't know what more battletomes are actually left for the current AoS edition. But it's not like I'm keeping a close eye. GeeDubs have annoyed me to the point that I'd rather just use other/NON-GEEDUBS rulesets and say they're set in whichever setting that pleases me. Actually been having most of my fun of late with Five Leagues from the Borderlands and saying that it's set in Warhammer Fantasy. Who needs friends anyway?

Unless they are about to announce Old World Second Edition - which I hope not, I am sick of edition turnover - I doubt they will reveal Kislev, as much as people online still really want them. And are annoyed because in the original reveal that the Old World was coming GeeDubs bigged up Kislev. Regardless, if/when Kislev comes, it will be as a new edition's big new faction.

Horus Heresy... No clue. I don't keep up with that.
Necromunda... No clue. I think a rulebook that is about how to include non-player factions would be cool. I've seen homebrewed rules for Space Marines as essentially "neutral" threats to all players on the table. I think getting official rules for that would be quite cool; especially if they actually make them accurate to the setting's scale. A space marine appearing in Necromunda in-between the gangers having a fight should feel like a nigh-unstoppable monster that is only survived, not overcome.

Won't happen though.

Blood Bowl... been a while since I looked at anything related to that. Is there anything left that hasn't got a representation in Blood Bowl? Well, I suppose if nothing else, it could be "here's a new edition with "refined" rules".

Kill Team... no clue.

40k... probably a reminder that the Steel Legion will have its own models, we solemnly swear! The "just paint Krieg yellow" was a joke, please stop lynching us!"

Anything I might have missed?

oh, right... Sorry @NIGHTBRINGER, pretty sure they won't have any announcements regarding 8th Edition WFB. I'm sure your heart bleeds. I know how much you were hoping for a sequel to Tamurkhan: The Throne of Chaos. XD

While I was initially looking forward to the first new TOW preview in a while, my excitement quickly sank as soon as I noticed that everyone's rumours about it being more Warriors of Chaos resculpts were founded through GW ditching some more of their classic kits :shifty:

Especially when it's Tomb Kings that need the model update a whole lot more urgently...

But I suppose at least it means if one faction's getting resculpts, it shows they're willing to invest the money into TOW to do it, and it should mean all the others are redone eventually too.

Also there's the hope that Dark Elves might be coming to TOW with the sudden removal of their range from the GW webstore, thereby beginning the fulfilment of my expectation that all the 'Legacy' factions would return fully eventually. Especially as allegedly there's going to be another new faction for AoS coming, which might well be those Malekith Elves that were always meant to be loitering around the setting. If so, then it'd be a no-brainer for GW to return the classic Dark Elf range to return to TOW where it belongs :coolest:

Tell me about it. The Warriors of Chaos sculpts were fine. They were among the more recent sculpts even before Age of Sigmar decided to update them. They then came back, and lo' they still look good. I sort of understood the marauders getting an update, but the Chaos warriors just did not need it.

Especially, as you pointed out, when the Tomb Kings are there, holding up picket signs saying "NOTICE US"

There is no escape from Chaos. It marks us all.
