Hi guys, so I’ve done some more work on the Saurus guard and have 5 painted to the level you can see in the WIP pics. They’re taking a bit longer than I originally thought but happy with the progress so far. Should hopefully have these completed in the next day or 2. Pleased with the skin tones on these guys,I have also built a unit of skinks which will be the next unit I paint after these 5 guard are complete.
Ok so Temple guard are 90% complete just a few bits I need to finish off, like gemstones and severed heads etc! Will post pics tomorrow of completed unit but here’s a little sneak peak Tomorrows pic will defo be better, focus on this one is slightly out but as stated, its only quick sneak peek
Ok so first unit of Saurus guard are now finished! Took longer than I thought but pleased with these guys!! Again please feel free to critique, I'm painting a unit of skinks now and I think I'm going for the colours that I did on the skink attendant to my Slann Hopefully I'll get them painted a lot quicker
Very realistic looking and detailed Guards, I like them. And that's either a brilliantly done painted-on reflection on the gems or they are really reflecting light, I can't tell. A very minor critique that I could offer would be that the drums and the mallets for them don't seem to look worn. The part on the drum (usually in the middle where it is hit with the percussion mallet all the time) looks a bit clean. Maybe just shade or drybrush some scratches or other signs of usage onto them. And the base edges: Are those painted black or did you just leave them black? If those are just blank I think I'd recommend painting them, as - IMO at least - the pure black plastic doesn't look very good. Still OK though if you keep it consistent within your army.
@Aginor the base edges are actually painted with rhinox hide but it just doesn't seem to be show up in the pictures. As for the gems they are all painted, it isn't that they are reflecting light, so I'm pretty pleased that they give that effect I see what you mean about the drums, I was originally thinking of weathering them with blood, to show the guard had caved someone's head in but carried beating on the drum after, but wasn't sure whether to go for this effect or not.
Right so the skink unit is nearing completion, need to finish off weapons and a few more highlights etc but here’s where I’m at currently I have also started building up the skin tones on my Eternity Warden, he did me proud in my last game and so he's getting painted
I really like the terrain you used, really sets the mood for your stunning figures. I hadn't noticed this detail. Amazing work ! Also looking forward to all that green on your Eternity Warden! Lots of jade I hope.
Hi guys, so paintings been a bit slow last week as I was working away and didn’t get much chance to work on anything. I have however progressed my Eternity warden slightly, by bringing out his skin tones more, still very much wip but hope you like where it’s going. Hopefully I will get more progress this week than last
Thanks @Warden and @Itepixcauh im really pleased with the colour coming through also, trying to keep more natural tones on the Saurus and the big beasties to come where as the skinks will hopefully bring the “pop” of bright colours to the army. Slight progress again on my Eternity warden, the scales on his leg are close to finished and this is how all the scales will eventually look, the brown areas will be gold and then his mace is going to be jade. Loving this model!! Hopefully will have him finished by the end of Feb! Thanks for looking guys!
