That's a red-back so if picture is accurate he's a stupid Aussie kid.

Local Symptoms
    • Sharp, stinging, or burning pain at the bite site that gets worse over the first hour
    • Redness, heat, and swelling
    • Patchy or heavy sweating directly around the bite area
    • Swollen and tender glands in your armpit or groin
Whole-Body (Systemic) Symptoms
    • Pain that spreads from the limb into your chest, back, or abdomen
    • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach cramps
    • Headache, general weakness, or tremors
    • Heavy sweating across other parts of the body
    • Fast heartbeat or high blood pressure
Not so dangerous for an adult but can sometimes be lethal to small children.
That kid would have known he'd been bitten.
