Looking for Painting Transport Cases

I been painting more at friends places than at my own, and I been looking for a small case that will fit 5 humanoids or 2 mounted figures, or 1 monster, min 5 to max 10 paints, brushes and a few tools. What do you guys use? Do you have picture to show?

I seen the Citadel Project Box, and I like the idea but I do not like the quality or the size. For that price I would expect the miniatures to be better protected with foam, or the paints to be secured to something. It doesn't look to me like a transport case, because as soon as you pick it up a few items would be moving around. It is also build just for GW, and I do like to keep my options open.

I have a medium size case with two trays and some soft material inside for all my paints, which has worked but now required repairs and it requires a whole backpack to carry. I would carry miniatures on small boxes with foam or something protective, but its just not comfortable. I want something simple but secure, and I think it will probably have to be self made.

you could use something like the GW figure cases with foam in half for your models and on the other half a plastic container with your paints in.

Maybe some sort of tackle box ?
Just pad the figure areas with some soft foam.

I found something that I am relative happy about.

It can hold 8 Vallejo/16 citadel and 10 humanoids/3 horse miniatures in the main box, and the lids work as 5mm tall small boxes. After using some silicon to close so water/freshness hole, you can use lids as wet pallets, using kitchen towels, baking paper and water. If you have small length paint brushes, you could also store them in one of the lid compartments. I am considering cutting 1 cm from the back of my brushes, do I really need the full size brushes? Best part you repack everything, and continue using left over paint in the pallets (as long as you didnt turn it upside down). After you done painting at your store or friends place, you can quickly store the paints, minis, and you can even take the wet pallets to continue at home!

The lids are orange, and the bottom of the lids have some bubble wrap to protect the minis that would be under neath. I tried to protecting methods, one bubble wrap and the other extra foam cut to fit the box. Second option does take a little more space, so the height of the boxes is reduce. Nevertheless, the foam does look a little nice and probably protects better. You can use extra foam pieces to do little compartments so miniatures do not touch each other.

I attached some picture of the other compartments, but big question. Would cutting brushes to fit the box be horrible? Its the length of the brushes that important?

I probably wouldn't cut them shorter than 5"... ~(13cm)

I would cut them to fit in the box to a length of 17 cm or 6.5 inches. Thats like 1 cm less than citadel brushes. I would cut some low quality brushes first and see how it feels. Shouldn't be terrible, I hope.

If you ever tried to use a short pencil, you'll know when it gets awkward.

As someone who owns the Citadel box i can confirm that as soon as it tilts even a little bit your paints roll around and end up all over the place
