Blog Ndege's painting and conversion lab - Nuff said!

Nice cake it seems we may have a great brit...lustrian cake off on our hands :D

Not only @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER makes cakes! Here a coproduction of my wife and my sister made for my daughter's birthday celebration today in church...

Was an overnight session till two in the morning cause of the spontaneity of the action and (I've been told so...) minor quality of the fondant... But nonetheless a cool cake for our little princess! :D
Very nice! I'm sure she loved it! :):):)

Experiment done...

Looks OK... Though I hoped for more... Don't know if green stuff would have looked less messy...
Did some glueing on my razordons... Designed two different ones as you may have recognized... Which one is your favourite? I like the small one with the eyebrows and the blade like back spikes more... But the other one is looking good, too.

Rex and colossi made some progress, too. Pictures will follow! :P;)

Here the rex!

Am still concerning to glace the red part of the rider, too... But I'm hesitating...
The armor and the saddle will be painted in dwarf bronz ... Or hashut copper as it is called now... And silver... Went to the shop today to get the hazelnut colour... ;)
Found that the dragon slayer is now a character... Some dwarfs name the white dwarf... An example of what a different paint scheme can do to a model! ;) :P

Here we go!

The rex with grey scales added and some armor...
WP_20161117_22_07_30_Pro.jpg
Two colossi... There is kind of a background story explaining why they (and all my other units /models) have different paint schemes... One day I will present it... But still got to get it finished, too...
Edit: Took a look at the picture and recognized that I somehow did a little mess on the grey ones leg... Will have to repair that!

Whoot! Been really busy the last days... Just little time for painting... As I want the colossi and rex to be really nice painted ( or as good as I can) I used the minutes I had to basecoat some guards and do some more moding on the leaders...

The third unit will be lead by this guy...
WP_20161122_23_43_58_Pro.jpg
He's wielding a hand weapon and got a different headdress... Quit nice I think...

This is the leader of the second unit... Actually he was my first alpha guardian...

I just changed the decorations on his poleaxe...

Also got some reaper bones for my daughter to learn painting... She didn't like"the dinosaurs" any more... We tried it today...
WP_20161123_001.jpg
And I already learned something! If the paper in the wet palette sucks up the paint, it is totally possible to mix up the paper in a lot of water and keep painting on... (good thing that I didn't renew it before we painted, as I actually planed to) and she learned "Stroking... No stabbing"

So we have a guest, who is staying until Wednesday... I had to get my things into the living room as our office (my hobby room and office in one) is also our guestroom.. So I left the colossi in there and try finishing some project I started earlier... In the last days I worked on a tree I started some time ago... Not as big and impressive as what @Jorgik did, but I think it could end up quite well...

Here you can see the piece of wood I added to create an additional branch...it's a piece of an ice cream stick...
WP_20161127_00_15_25_Pro.jpg
For the foliage I destroyed a square foot of artificial grass from the 1€ -shop... It's these rings with four little branches I saw some people here are using,too...
The base was made of polymeric clay from the same shop... Not really good for sculpting or to use on models but good for stuff like this... It quite heavy... (the difference of the pain when dropping a metal stegadon or a reasculpt out of this stuff would be minimal. ;) )
The trunk is simply made of a branch I found in the forest...
So far I added bird sand and some fine decorative gravel.. From the ... *mysterious gesture* 1€- shop!...
Next will be some painting and then adding some bigger rocks and plants... Maybe some liana in the tree, too... Last step will be the grass tuffs...
Sorry... So much text...

I'm pretty sure I'm playing around with the same aquarium plants you used for the branches :P

Amazing work with the saurus rider, love his headdress. Not sure about the red paint on his face, but I need more pictures!

Also like how the colossi are turning out, you put a great amount of detail into the scales. Good luck with the temple guard!

New self-made oldblood is getting closer to be finished... Have removed the shield to be able to paint easily...

Right now I'm debating with my self wether I do the horns on his helmet green like the ball on his club and the ring on tail and legg... Or paint them like the skull making them as real horns ... Or even make them bronze... Ah, decisions, decisions...

Went to the store the other day... Found they had something useful hanging on the door to the sanctuary (staff room)...

I think some (most) of you might already know it... And I might find a pic showing the whole thing as one...
I found it quite useful cause on the very left and right you can see the results of the technique shown ...

This looks so cool! Great colours and that green looks great.

They gifted that poster in one of the old weekly white dwarfs. Maybe you can ask the store it they still have it ;). Also, nice temple guard, I´m working on mine now too :):)

Paint scheme for the temple guardlizard looks great! The green horns make it look like leaves. Still love the color scheme. And I like how you have created your bases BEFORE you put the models on top; that is something I need to work on...
