Blog Ndege's painting and conversion lab - Nuff said!

Made a decision according to my skink units... the one blowpipe skink with the firey crest I once made is going to be their leader... their color scheme is green skin, blue scales, red crest and lavaish shields...
Some of them will have a converted crest... and I use different shades of the named colors so I'll have a bit of variety in the unit but less than in the saurus units...
The whole unit in different stages

There will be a unit with the green, grey, red scheme with the black markings later, too. But for now I keep it more simple and basic for them...
Next: more on the pink priest...

So painted the gold parts and retired the feathers... I painted them in Vallejo ghost grey respectively Vallejo elfic flesh as a basecoat and did highlights with gw's scar white... then I thinned down some administratum grey in a 1:10:8 ratio (color:Vallejo thinner:lahmia medium) and glaced the feathers with grey basecoat... the fleshy ones look good without a glace/wash imo... so I leave them like they are for now...

So... I've been looking in my bits box (the one stored in the cellar) for things to use for my trading post... terrain challenge, you know? Found some saurus drums that will probably make some nice barrels and a pumpkin I once made out of polymeric clay... Also found some plastic cherries or apples or what ever they once were... definitely going to be fruits when I'm done with them...;) still searching for other stuff... definitely will add some bags of certain herbs...:cigar: but it will still be a trading post... I'm not going to make a coffee shop out of it... or am I? :wacky:

Excellent use of drums! I would have never thought about it!

Actually @Drimon used drums as barrels before... look at his lizardmen traders!

Here a little progress on the skinks... nearly there... only the ones with a converted crest to do... And the bases...

Maybe you recognized: the all have plain shield or the feather attached... And blue is the second unit color... they all wear at least one blue wristband or have the blue feathers on their shields...

And I'm (re)working on a priest conversion...

His sword/ dagger is made of a spike that broke off a comb...

Some more material for the trading post... have to say I didn't spend any money on material for this yet... my selfset goal is to spend less than 10€ for this... here some Christmas decorations I found at my grandma's house...

Skink for size reference... gonna make some giant fruit from those apples...

And I already started on the shields of the second skink unit...

And two test models for the second skink unit... belonging to the brown skinned third of my forces...

The spinal scales and the row of scales left and right of it are red, the more 'outside' scales are orange... for the skin I used zandri dust respectively rakarth flesh... the crests are grey...

Some new crests (I start finding it's an odd word...) were made... maybe I'll try to make the next ones step by step instead of in one go... if I'm patient enough for that...

And I added some more plants to the bases of the unit...

I think that I'll skip tomorrow's hobby session cause it's my wife's last night here before she's leaving to Zimbabwe to visit her family... still don't know if that increases or decreases the amount of hobby time in the next three weeks, cause she's leaving the small one with me (ticket for her would be the same prise as adults for some reason)...

To receive a appropriate dose of hobby anyways I'd appreciate any comments more than usual! ;)

About the crests: nicely done, but they personally remind me of the alien in.... well Alien...
Concerning your free time.... I'm sure the little lizard will be sleeping by 1900, so you'll have plenty of time for hobby in the evening. :p
