Hey y'all!

The Age of Sigmar fb page just released a teaser video with Morathi!


I think this is exciting as GW seems to be revamping an old faction instead of adding a new one!

New models? New battletome? I sure hope so!
 
ah that explains one of my questions I asked in the other thread.

Can anyone give me a short TLDR version who the hell Morathi and/or Daughters of Khaine are and what I need to know about them to understand what is going on?

Would love it to be a unifying battletome, like ''Legions of Nagash'' is doing with death, for the different dark elves sub factions!
 
Ok so I read about Morathi, please correct me if I am wrong. The wiki I read is a bit... rudimentary.

- she is an elf and she is very old but she doesn't age?

- she joined a Cult of Slaanesh and used Chaos Magic and fought her son who wanted to become king and fought alongside her enemies. At some point she didn't follow Slaanesh anymore?

- he failed to become King although she helped him and he was hurt by some flame?

- she survived the End Times by being trapped in some magical thing and then her son (or let's say the godlike entity he became) freed her.

- Slaanesh ate so many souls that he/she/it is now fat and lazy and thus not very powerful?

- they captured Slaanesh??

That last part about Slaanesh eating too many souls and being captured is true. From my understanding, he was hiding while digesting all of those souls and was therefore in a weak state, letting them capture him. It was also somehow planned by Tzeentch (as are all things, of course) but I'm not sure who/what he steered to make it happen.

As for your other points, from what I can remember from my early AoS readings (mostly wikis too), I think you're right.

Wasn't her son Malekith the Witch King, who fused with his mighty mount Seraphon (hello name re-using GW) and thus became Malerion, a much more powerful being?

BTW that sounds like an interesting model to bring, could be a gigantic behemoth à la Archaon :cool:

Yeah it seems so. Although they did a cool trick with AoS lore (at least occasionally):
The stories are told second or third hand so you cannot really tell if you read facts or just the truth from a certain point of view. The persons telling the story might be lying, exaggerating, or being deceived themselves.
I don't know if GW did that in 40k or older editions as well but for me it is intriguing since it always leaves some space to shift things around.
 
Also if I got that correctly there are rumors that Morathi will be TWO models. A normal elf shaped one and a huge snake-like model.
Just a rumor but the guy who spread it on TGA reportedly was right with some other stuff he said so it might be true.
If yes: Interesting.
 
Interesting if true. Could be some kind of powering up / transformation trigger in the rules. That would be super cool.

Hmmm if true could be the base model for a Coatl conversion

Yep that's what I assumed anyway to be honest. I expect a Dark Aelf faction lead by Morathi, merging the models of the following factions together:
- Daughters of Khaine
- Scourge Privateers
- Darkling Covens
- Order Serpentis
- Shadowblades

EDIT:
That would bring a lot of ....uhhh.... ORDER to the Order Grand Alliance IMO. Then we only would need another merge for the half-dozen of "High Elves" factions

I don't know, I actually like what we've seen so far from the models, but I understand it is maybe not for everyone!
