Poll: What do you think about the new Age of Sigmar models?

What do you think about the new Age of Sigmar models?

  • AMAZING - I can't wait to buy them!

  • Pretty Good - I'll probably pick up a box

  • Okay - They're not bad, but nothing special

  • Unsure - I need to see better pictures to make a judgement

  • Pretty Bad - I wouldn't buy them

  • HORRIBLE - How could my precious Warhammer devolve to this?!?

Ouch. The Age of Sigmar box set price tag, though. $250. I remember I got Island of Blood for around $90.

It's $150 in Canada and "only" $125 in the US. GW screws over Australia and New Zealand yet again. I feel sorry for our southern friends :(

Ah for some reason their site switched to Australia for me , not sure what happened there as I live in the US and haven't changed it before (or so I thought!).

I don't actually see it on their site in US version yet.

Phone app says these are equivalent prices (for today) subject to change:
125 USD
080 GBP
157 CAN
166 AUD
186 NZD

That really shows that currency differences can not justify GW's "hatred" of the south. Even with the inclusion of additional transport costs it makes no sense.

Yea, I won't be buying any of that. For $125, I can get so much more for my money. It's not worth it.

$250 for us here in NZ.

Thats a Carnosaur, Stegadon, and a box of saurus warriors if I play my cards right.

That's not a bad price if you like the models... especially if you can find someone to take one of the armies and split the cost. I don't personally like the models too much. I wouldn't call them bad in any way, but they're not my cup of tea.

There is simply no justification for such a price. Unless you guys are getting platinum coated models.

So is there any reason to switch of Kings of War as opposed to sticking with 8th?

Yes. Even if most of the current 8th edition players vow to keep playing 8th edition, the number of people playing 8th edition WHF can only go down. Even the numbers go down very slowly, over time you will have fewer and fewer people willing and able to play a game with you.

I don't want to sell my models (who would buy them at a price comparable to what I paid for it?), and I will play 8th at every opportunity, but I'm going to start playing Kings of War cause I want to keep playing large army minis ten years from now.

That's the sad truth of the matter. :(

I mainly play against my wife anyways, so I'm not too concerned. Still I'd love to stumble upon a small gaming group that sticks with 8th. I don't need a lot of players.

Still, I'm admittedly intrigued about this Kings of War game and will give it a read through when they release their Lizardmen book.

It's unclear at this point whether they are going to make analog armies for the Beastmen, Skaven, and Lizardmen or if they are going to make a generic animalmen army that uses models form any of those. I am certainly going to give KoW a try and have already the hard copy book and templates. At the very least I can play my Empire and Undead armies while waiting for Lizardmen to come out in KoW.

If (when) Kings of War comes up with an official Lizardmen army, Lustria-Online is likely to create a Kings of War subforum.

I'll probably wait and see if a Lizardmen army is released by KoW. I don't think I would switch over unless they created a dedicated Lizzie army.

I think that would be a very good idea. Interesting how the forum is growing... starting off with Warhammer and now possibly supporting 3 different games.

I love it, but can't afford to splurge $200 for it. I'll probably search for it on ebay in a few months time.

I was likewise thinking or giving KOW or Hordes a go, admittedly it's because there's a number of magic players who have been looking to give the game a try too, so I'm curious to see how they play (this is a choice I should stress I would have done even if AOS didn't happen).

On another note, as anyone tried AOW?
Felix actually got GW permission recently to have a rule set for Khorne armies in his system and he has friends and forum users who get perks from writing, play-testing and giving him feedback on those rules.

What is AoW and who is Felix? I used to have a computer game called Shadow Magic Age of Wonder.. ..is that something different?

I suspect it may be because on the Spanish postal system ...?

I haven't had personal experience with it, but from what I have heard (from numerous sources) there is often a delay of many months. I don't think the Spanish postal service can take the blame for that one.
