@Caprasauridae Yeha :S at least for me its been dificult! I havent gotten it right yet, and I Have allready tried it a couple of times....The big problemes for me are puting the right amount of the highlighting paint in the point ( I ussually put too much and never get to the blending part), keeping the colors wet on the brush and as @Crowsfoot mention the white gets to chalky when you dilute it to that level


@Crowsfoot yes he is using a wet palet.

I am corious to see what you guys achieve with this techniques and to hear your tips and recomendations after using it!

 

Yeah, most definitely a wet palette.

Very nice work. How do you create such beautifully smooth shading transitions (which is especially evident in that last picture)?

 

I have been trying out this new technicque called the loded brush,

I am still strugling to make it work correctly but I have liked the results so far! Hope this helps @NIGHTBRINGER

 

Thanks for the video, I'll definitely give it a go. You've definitely mastered the technique. Your painting is consistently fantastic!

 

The effect is certainly already stunning! When you use the loaded brush technique, do you always go from light to dark (i.e. load the brush with darker colour and add lighter colour to the tip?) or can you also go dark to light? Also, what kind of dilutions you use?

Can't wait to see the final product!

The video and the chanel are definately worth the time! They have a lot of great tips! Looking forward to seeing you try them.

@Caprasauridae I havent been able to do the loaded technique properly so what I have been doing so far is going from the darker tones to the lighter tones and only at the end I have started trying to use the loded brush technique to put the pure white highlight. Its really hard for me hahah :s

I am not sure if you can ho the other way, but I would imagine you could.... At the monent I am only using water to thin my paints

 

That is also how I ubderstand it! @Crowsfoot the whole point is to do a fast blending without having to go trough the usuak steps! i havent been able to get the correct mix in my brush so I end up having a lot of white, that is why have bern doing a mix between the loded brush and the "traditional" technique.

Yes, i am using a wet pallet, they are awesome!

Some additional pictures of the progress on my skink, trying out a marble staff, not to shure how I feel about it! Any sugestions are welcomed as always

 

The white marble looks good, but definitely needs some black veins on it. That's what, at least to me, makes the marble.

@Crowsfoot to do the marble I painted the staff white and than used a mix of greys to put random strokes on the cepter, than I used white to clean it up a bit.

 

I like the green stripy skull on his waist! Lookin' good!
