I am going to get skinks. I am gonna use them with javelins and shields and I think I am going to use 2 units of 12. How does the movement tray thing work, do they have to spaced apart or are they just a normal 6x2.

Skirmishers are spaced 1/2" apart from one another... still in ranks and files but 1/2" separation between all models. In close combat they tighten their formation into that of a typical rank and file unit. This tightening occurs as soon as they declare a charge or when they declare a charge reaction other than fleeing.

You can find more information on this on page 77 of the BRB.

This is the type of movement tray I use with my Skink Skirmishers...

Anyway I can make that with the normal GW movement tray?

Yes and no. You don't get those holes or spaces if you just assemble it as it is meant to be. But if you are handy enough sure you can do something like that. Just cut the baseboard big enough and add the spacers between by cutting smaller pieces.

I think I might just cut up a tray big enough to put them in with spaces, this will allow me to be a bit more free. The space, is it the size of a skink base, and how big should I do it to fit 12 skinks in one tray.

Space between should be 1/2 inch, so half a 25mm base.
