Canada is the first one through, although I think it is their last hurrah before being eliminated by Netherlands/Morocco. I really like Argentina's place in the bracket. Looks to be the weakest quadrant of the four. Nothing is ever guaranteed, but it looks like the smoothest path.

You are correct, it was Algeria vs Austria.

That's strange about the video, it works perfectly on my laptop and from my phone. Maybe it is region locked?
Yes I get the same message - video unavailable in your region

Assuming Germany win their match and France win theirs, then Germany vs France in round of 16.
On the off chance Australia beat Egypt we'll have to deal with the Argies.

Funnily enough I have a fixtures chart for the Cup that includes a prediction from the Daily Mail suggesting Spain might win... whether that's likely or not remains to be seen, but if Spain have a good chance then England do too (so long as they keep playing like they did against Croatia... vengeance served after the World Cup in Russia :coolest:).

As discussed above, it'll be interesting to see what happens if Germany and France both win their Last 32 matches and come up against each other early on in the Last 16... that'd mean one big footballing nation would be going home early either way.

To be honest, I still suspect it's anybody's tournament at the moment... most of the nations in the top four categories have their strongpoints.

Let's hope it is the Netherlands that will do the job :P ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

Certainly we'd have to favour France in that one. (and this coming from someone who desperately wants to see them lose)

Their round of 32 game seems significantly harder than their round of 16.

that was unexpected.
So, it will be paraguay vs (probably) france?
Yeah, there are only a handful of teams that would stand a reasonable chance against France, and Sweden ain't one of them. I doubt we'll see an upset this time around. I'd love to see it, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

guess not.

So... Canada goes deeper into the tournament than Germany and the Netherlands. Who had that on their bingo card?

It was a tough game with a lot of physical conflict also a lot of Marrocan player are playing in the Dutch league: Eredivisie.
The Penalty Kicks were such a anticlimax to the game...

Jet again it is penalty kicks that decide the fate of the Netherlands on a World Cup.

I wish Canada loads of luck against Marroco ;)

Grrr, Imrahil
