8th Ed. I killed the new Bloodthirster!

I did. I killed the new Bloodthirster. The Damned thing has 10 attacks!

Here's the story:

In a time where the very earth shifted and contorted beneath the pounding stampede of warbands, a furious 2000 point battle errupted in the lands of Lustria as a band of Khorne Daemons (with a little help from Tzeentch) broke through the warp.
A wild Bloodthirster appeared with 2 units of Herald-lead Letters and 4 juggernaut riders (with help from some Flamers).

During the onslaught, 2 units of brave skinks sacrificed themselves and staved off the Bloodthirster's advances, slowly picking wounds off him before the Mighty Chakax challenged him to a dual. Chakax, though being knocked unconscious in return, brought the mighty Bloodthirster down to his last wound. The Bloodthirster's instability sucked him back into the warp. Khorne was not impressed with his Bloodthirster's performance.

That day was a good day for the Lizardmen. A good day in the storm of an evil future. Any success is still worth remembering.

I had a very frustrating (and extremely close!) game vs a friend at the store the other day. Idk how to say this without it sounding made up, but anyway:

Blood thirster on 4 wounds (previous skink shooting). He charges, kills my scar vet, overruns into slan (doh!) ancient steg with horns counter charges it... slann miscasts timewarp, str 10 hit on slann, steg and thirster, slann and steg not wounded (?!), thirster wounded, but ward saved...
Close combat rolls round...

I roll for impact hits... 4 hits total... 4+ to wound, and i get 2 wounds. He fails both ward saves. i roll 2D3, and roll a 2 and a 3... GAH.

Ok, so 1 wound remaining on the thirster. He has an ASF sword, so he butchers the steg and puts 2 wounds on my slann. The slann's attendent strikes back, with WS10 (light magic)... rolls a 6. Hmm. Roll to wound- another 6. Hmm. He rolls for his armour save, fails it... Hmm, yes this is good, and im not dreaming!!... He rolls for his ward save...

5. He rolled a damn 5. asdfghj I came so close to having the greatest achievement in warhammer fantasy. And I blew it. I remember one bystander said to my opponent, 'If you failed that ward save, i'd have told you to quit warhammer'.

 

Um... Unless you miss typed how many wounds it had in your post, it should have died to the steg. You wrote that it had 3 wounds left, scored 2 wounds and got to roll 2d3 wounds to see what the actual damage was. You rolled a 2 and a 3. 1 or 2: 1 wound. 3 or 4: 2 wounds. Add them up and that's 3 wounds and a dead Bloodthirster.

Curses! I was hoping it was an oversight and you actually DID kill the beast. Oh well. I envy you guys. Nobody in my group runs big nasty daemons.

 

@NexS1 it was a 1500pts 'unbound' friendly game, which means 0 core is taken by Chaos. I brought a standard army list, and didn't have points spare for TG The cowboy wasn't originally angled for a BT overrun into my slann, but i suspect he was accidentally knocked (not from cheating, just that the GW boards are very easy to knock). I wasn't going to argue the case anyway, it was just a friendly game and theres rarely any point in arguing in warhammer The slann survived the thunderstomping BT, leaving him on 1 wound, but then got run down. I like to think the devious frog teleported away to safety.
@lordkingcrow Haha, thanks for trying to help but no, it was only just alive by the skin of its teeth. I'm playing the same guy tomorrow, so hopefully I will slay it then. Don't be jealous- it's silly how powerful these things are in CC! xD

 

That would have been so epic!
