They are both descent choices, but what we really lack are core options!

Horned Ones were also available from Dogs of War / Regiments of Renown, the unit was called "Tichi-Huichi's Raiders". They were a special choice for Lizardmen. Their rules were different from the Horned Ones in the Southlands list though, for instance they suffer from stupidity.

True enough, oddly they flip flopped between being horned or condones in the 2 editions of their rules.

Yeah, it was quite the mess. The rules for the Tichi-Huichi's Raiders is somewhere between cold one cavalry and the horned ones from the south lands list.

[ Clearly, I was ninja-ed by others with more complete record plaques... ]

In the Beginning (or as near to it as I remember) there were Mercenary units. They were Called Dogs-Of-War. One such was:
    :snaphappy:
^...these guys.^ At some point their mounts got reclassified as "Horned Ones". At a later point all the Dogs-Of-War were gathered into a single codex. At a point after that using Dogs-Of-War was severely curtailed. Possibly at the same time there was a Southlands variant Lizardman list which had models you were supposed to stop using in favor of buying new models. Models such as the formerly ubiquitous Skinks-with-Bows and a unit of Skinks riding "Horned Ones" for which the Raiders were the ideal proxies.

( :shifty: I may still be bitter about the former. )
