Ok so I've caved in and am looking for alternate shields for my Saurus Warriors and skinks but I'm having trouble finding anything other than spartan/greek shields. Honestly I'm not even sure what I'm looking for, but has anyone come across any good alternative shields?

My army is (or at least will be) Chotec themed, so preferably something with a sun motif or at least a flat surface I can paint one on.

.scibor miniatures have different kind of shields, but tbh I'm loving the button idea and some of them look really awesome xD they can't be expensive?

[buttons] ...they can't be expensive?

IDK, didn't price any buttons. Depends on what you call expensive? Bitz barn asks $0.35 to $0.45 cents per shield. So, I guess that is the price to beat.

Metal shields from Reaper are higher $0.65 or so, varies by sprue.

Scibor was even higher about 6 Euros for 3 to 8 resin shields.

Privateer Press has shields available: the human sized ones seem to be about $0.50.

I think I gave 3-4 euro for 4-6 shields at scibor miniatures. The euro and dollar is almost the same if I'm not mistaken.

When I looked just now they were all € 5.89 for how ever many shields it was: lion shields was 3 but something else was 8.

I did not know the Euro had sunk that much against the USD.

Rather the opposit. The dollar have risen quite well the last year. :p

But yeah I seem to have "forgotten" how expensive the shields were haha. :D

We all do that, my wife thinks we have around 50 models and 10 paints, it's more like 300 models and 100 paints :stig:

Resin, or possibly plastic, from the looks of it...
Also I saw some ork part being called resin.

Wow I didn't even think of buttons! That's a really god idea...

Really like the puppetswar ones as well, could be nice for freehanding symbols.

So in an ironic development I recently acquired a spawning of shield-less Temple Guard...

But amazingly, women who shop at Wal*Mart have been stitching Temple Guard Shields to their clothing, apparently for years. Why they would do this boggles the mind. Utterly baffling. This may need to be contemplated at length by a 5th generation Slann.

@pendrake

Those buttons look really good, they don't even need painting maybe just a colour wash, might have to venture into women shops more, what size are they?

They have a diameter of 15mm. For reference the square base in the shot is 25x25mm. The two grey plastic shields (from 5th ed. skinks?) are 13mm in diameter.

(edit) BTW, a three foot diameter shield shrinks down to 15mm at this scale. A saurus temple guard is about 7.5 feet tall and 1:1 scale Viking round shields were about 3 foot diameter.

AWESOME! ... and probably quite a bit cheaper than GW.

That batch was $1.44 for each card of three. So, $5.76 per dozen plus tax. I guess that works out to about fifty cents each?
