I think it will be tough to create an involving game in the sense that the community actively updates and modifies it (I hope I am proven wrong though... I'm not opposed to seeing it come into fruition). The players would have to create some sort of recognized governing body, but chances are that it will never happen. I used Swedish Comp and ETC has an example, because a lot of players subscribe to those systems, but that said, many others deem it to have very little merit. I'd love warhammer 8th edition to grow and involve, but I wouldn't bet on it. Continuing to play unmodified 8th is more likely (but with a much reduced player base of course).

AoS rules.jpg Well this is interesting. Someone on the WHF board on FB found this:

That's it confirmed then. Age of Sigmar was just a paint pot all along. What a twist!

Aye, indeed. Interestingly enough, I did read some accompanying rumours that said a) there would be a free rules download and b) it would be in the form of a PDF constituting four pages.

Do you remember the fifth edition having both a quick start guide and a handy cheat sheet with all the combat tables?
    Something close to that.

Has this been posted already? AOS rumoured Box contents:

    Age of Sigmar Contents:
    1x Empire General on Griffin
    5x Knights of Sigmar
    10x State Troops with Spears
    10x State Troops with Muskets

1x Lord of Khorne on Daemonsteed
    5x Chaos Knights
    10x Chaos Warriors

    -No small rulebook
    -Full rules for all models
-Small intro of the fluff (Humans only)
    -5 Scenarios to introduce players
-Text is written very child [?] friendly
That seems a different list of things compared to an earlier [hoax?] list of similar length.
The same list appears on several rumor-mongering web-outlets. Added colors to highlight the two sides.

    Found it here: http://www.spikeybits.com/2015/06/breaking-age-of-sigmar-box-set-more.html

That must be one heck of a box then. I have a Griffin at home and the wingspan is huge. I thought the box would have either smaller models or smaller content, thinking of Island of Blood as a rough base. It's not so starter quick when I think too, a bit too many models for my tastes.
Oh well just back to sitting and waiting game.
I forgot my daily update from the adventures of the workshop.
Each army will be a new book, not sure if any will be combined or not (already been discussed that has), there is also a new range of miniatures coming and other goodies (possibly new movement trays and stuff) still no concrete info yet.

There is some sort of -Griffin creature in the Island of Blood box. Elf passenger; Six inch wingspan? How big is that Griffin you have?

Steve have posted roughly 100 rumours of which 70 of them ended up being false if I'm not mistakening. Take it with some salt.

Measured one of the wings, it is roughly 5 inches long. The Island of Blood griffin is much smaller model compared to Franz's griff, If I remember correctly from looking at the gaming table last. The Empire Griff has a large base like a Carnosaur.

    *edit*
Unless they are making a tiny griff like the old model or it could be a Demigriff, which are similar size to IoB Elf Griff

Thanks for that. I have the IOB one still on its sprue, and yes, it is much smaller.

I suppose enough wild speculation will result in being correct about something, somewhere, on a few points. This is rather like waiting for D-Day.

    No problem :)

Plus I would not thought they would chuck a big model in a starter set. If I was going for leaders on mounts, I would pick either a horse mount (maybe a Pegasus) or a DemiGriff (No idea if characters can take them) Sure Empire would benefit from a Griffin battling Chaos but also to take into consideration that if this based on factions picking themselves up after the End Times, surely the models would be smaller in a group, after relooking at the list, some sections do fit some numbers (Similar to Elves vs Skaven) but it's just that Griffin.
Still taking a salt pot and waiting for what happens.

Honestly..I actually quite like them. Kinda typical image of "Holy Knights" which isn't so new aesthetically but nice all the same: I do like those Gelt-esque masks.. A few things that are a tad bothersome however:
    • Look at the shoulder pads on those knights. Sigmarines are officially here!
    • Round Bases! (which as never bothered me a great deal, if I'm honest)
    • The demigryph (if that is what it is - if so I assume it's been spending time in the gym since 8th) looks more chaotic than regal. I'd prefer it as a mount for a Chaos Lord.
    • 80's banner is obvious pandering to nostalgia. Don't insult me GW.
Speaking of the banner, the right decal is obvious the Chaos sigil, so is the left one a new sigil for order or has it been seen before?

AWESOME! I've always loved the Sigmar idea, jade Griffin, holy knights, etc.

    These look amazing.

Love the "angels", love the mount, so fierce! Obvious Sigmarines are obvious. I guess it's a smart move to segway all of them space marine players into AoS, plus they look really good as well!

My eyes started to sparkle at the Demigryph like creature.
What's with GW and almost fragile models? I'm looking at you winged knights. From what I see, it's only cloth and maybe a rock that's holding the rest up.
