PAINTSUMPTHIN' SCALY- 2015

Sumpthin = Something = some one thing.

The theme for this competition is... INFANTRY! This includes ANY model that is considered infantry or monstrous infantry in the Lizardmen Army. This includes characters!

Entrants must submit at least ONE model or no more than FIVE models in any combinations. Yes that means you can have 3 Krox and 2 Saurus. Please no monsters! Mix-n-matched models must at least fit together in a coherent manner. ALL models must be painted to completion within the contest time frame.

CATEGORIES

There are 3 categories for this contest:

1. Quadrilaterals 4EVER!
Stay the course! Don't believe the new religion! This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme and are on a square or rectangular base. Models must have been painted within the last 6 months.

2. Circles, Circles, Rounds!
Sway the naysayers! This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme but on round or oval bases. Welcome our new corner-less Overlords. Models must have been painted within the last 6 months.

3. Diorama Doomsday!
Who needs bases?!This includes ANY model(s) that fit the contest theme and which fit within a footprint not much larger than the five model limit. The diorama MUST be able to tell a story without any explanation besides the title. Hopefully, it will be dramatic/comical/inspiring in some manner. (This can include unit fillers) Models must have been painted within the last 6 months.

CONTEST RULES

Please read fully.

1. This contest is open to any and all who would like to enter, so long as they adhere to the required theme.

2. Entrants may use models from different armies or manufacturers, so long as the model is easily identified to fit the theme.

3. Entrants may use INFANTRY models from different armies to enhance their entry, so long as it is clear that the main emphasis is on models that fit the theme.

4. Entries MUST be submitted with a title. If no title is given, the entry will be named by some one else (warning: possibly @spawning of Bob)

5. Entrants MAY enter in multiple categories, but with only one entry per category.

6. NO MORE than 3 images per entry.

7. Photo-editing will grant you an immediate disqualification. You MAY however adjust the brightness, contrast, hue, size or other relevant adjustments. Questionable photos will be reviewed by the judges. IF YOU ADJUST YOUR PHOTO it is highly recommended that you keep an original copy of the image, just in case there is any concern to it's authenticity.

TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY
PM your entry to myself, @Qupakoco. This one will be a blind competition! It would be preferred for entrants to submit multiple images in one single paneled image if possible. Once you submit, you may brag about how awesome your entry is.

You MUST submit your image along with your title AND declare the relevant category you wish to compete in. Entries will be accepted June 25th through July 20th, 2015. That's a little over 3 weeks.

VOTING
Voting will take place the week following July 20th. The voting will be done as popular vote, so keep your eyes peeled for the voting thread(s)!

Hip to be a Square! - This award will go to the entrant whose submittal wins the Quadrilaterals 4EVER! category.

Life Comes Full Circle - This award will go to the entrant whose submittal wins the Circles, Circles, Rounds! category.

Tons of credit to @pendrake for creating the first draft of the comp!

I know there was a much broader idea for the original proposal, but we need to keep things in a judge-able manner. We want to be able to compare apples to apples. Or man-shaped things to man-shaped things to be more specific. Also keep in mind that creating your own terrain will immensely enhance your entry.

I have MY models started! Anyone else getting geared up?

I found the model I would like to paint yesterday (on the way to painting something else).

Here is the something else:

...it isn't Lizardmen related ...sorry... unless we get tanks in the new edition. Actually, I think these are called bombards.

I have mine finished... well almost, the painting is done, but I still have to spray it with varnish and base it.

Anyone actually competing in more than the first category?

I'll get in on this.
(Spoiler alert : it will be on a square base).

Don't worry, we have second and third place for a reason!
